MAX CANADA NAMES NEW V.P.<br />

Carol Ford, of Brampton, Ontario, is thrilled about her new role as Vice President of <strong>Max</strong><br />

Canada, which enables her to merge 32 years of multi-faceted industry experience.<br />

Carol has held positions spanning all angles of the industry including General Manager,<br />

<strong>International</strong> VP of Sales, CEO and several years building independent businesses in<br />

the field. Carol has also owned two network marketing businesses, as well as other<br />

businesses outside the industry.<br />

“I look forward to providing Associates of Canada with support, tools, and systems needed to<br />

achieve the momentous growth we all anticipate at <strong>Max</strong> <strong>International</strong>,” Carol said. “With excellent<br />

leadership already in place, I’m excited about partnering with them to achieve this growth.”<br />

Carol put her long-standing corporate management career on hold during the last two years as she pursued her<br />

passion for field work by becoming a <strong>Max</strong> Associate. She loves working with field leaders and business builders to help<br />

them realize their dreams. As a proud mother of four adult children, and grandmother of eight, Carol understands the<br />

importance of balancing priorities in life, while building a dream lifestyle for loved ones and creating a legacy for the<br />

family. Carol feels her greatest strengths are training, coaching, and supporting business builders, and believes her new<br />

role as VP will allow her to shine even more strongly in those areas.<br />

Carol said her door is always open to suggestions and questions from partners in the field. She looks forward to traveling<br />

Members of the <strong>Max</strong> Corporate team are headed to the Philippines for<br />

the <strong>Max</strong> Showcase/Road to Diamond seminar, April 24 – 26. Top field<br />

and corporate leaders will talk about exciting new developments and<br />

recognize the accomplishments of our many dedicated Associates in the<br />

Philippines.<br />

Associates and their guests will have the opportunity to mingle with leaders<br />

and hear about the philosophy behind <strong>Max</strong> <strong>International</strong>’s business strategy<br />

and its groundbreaking products. Prospects will receive information which<br />

will inspire many to take a closer look at the company. Darin Ashby, Senior Director of Events and Recognition, will discuss<br />

Mike called 2010 a breakthrough year. “That’s true for where <strong>Max</strong> <strong>International</strong> is headed and it’s true for each<br />

Advisory Council member Dr. Daria Davidson said that when the story you are telling is real the less talking you do the<br />

better. The last thing you want to give a thirsty friend is a drink from a fire hose. The e-book allows you to customize<br />

Daria called Alan Sickman a master at this business. Alan built his business by simply handing a magazine to his<br />

Dr. Davidson described the e-book as a professional-looking, hype-free tool that represents the company well. She joined<br />

A. We don’t feel that a hard copy of the e-book would be useful because it is<br />

a dynamic, interactive tool with multi-media links that wouldn’t lend itself to, or<br />

be best utilized in, a hard copy format. It can be easily downloaded from the max.com blog and emailed to contacts.<br />

Getting it into the hands of contacts as a PDF is even easier than it would be in printed form and much more useful<br />

to your contact. You can also text a link to the e-book to your prospect or provide links at social networking sites like<br />

Facebook and Twitter. This will get far more exposure than a traditional hard copy would.<br />

MAX LIVING PART 1<br />

Make life’s moments count by effectively managing time and making and keeping commitments<br />

For the next three months the training section in <strong>Max</strong>Today will be devoted<br />

to three different aspects of <strong>Max</strong> Living. Associates in all walks of life attempt<br />

to balance overstuffed schedules with building a business. This can be<br />

challenging even for the most organized person. It is important to build your<br />

business in a way that doesn’t detract from things that matter most, but this<br />

can, at times, seem daunting. Discovering small ways to achieve balance and<br />

improve effectiveness, while decreasing stress, can make all the difference.<br />

What is time? We’ve heard it said that time is money, our most precious resource, or what we bide between paychecks.<br />

It is all of those things but most importantly time is what you make of it. If you can manage it in a way that adds value<br />

to your life and the lives of those around you, your life will become one of great significance. <strong>Max</strong>imizing what matters<br />

most is a process of making each moment count and making sure the things of greatest importance don’t get bypassed<br />

because we aren’t paying careful enough attention.<br />

When time starts working in your favor your life becomes meaningful and significant.<br />

Sit down today and write down two major commitments you want and need to accomplish. Don’t feel like you have to<br />

limit it to two. If you can think of five things off the top of your head, write all of them down. A great one to start with is<br />

this: “I will invest ten to fifteen minutes each day formally planning my day.”<br />

The objectives of <strong>Max</strong> Living are the following:<br />

Decrease Stress: By simply following through with one of the commitments you write down, you can substantially<br />

decrease stress levels.<br />

Increase Your Personal Effectiveness: This is not to be confused with productivity. Productivity can be a good thing but<br />

it is possible to be productive doing the wrong thing. If your ladder is sitting against the wrong wall it doesn’t matter how<br />

productive you are. Effectiveness comes when you have your ladder against the right wall and you’re doing the right<br />

thing in terms of what matters most to you, your family, and your team.<br />

Increase Joy and Balance in Your Life and in Your <strong>Max</strong> Business: Decreasing stress and increasing effectiveness will<br />

naturally create joy and balance.<br />

We can all learn from the serenity prayer recited at the beginning of each AA meeting. It says, “God grant me the serenity<br />

to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”<br />

TRAINING<br />

Imagine that you are sitting at home. Think of your home as a continuum, like a box. The wall to your left represents the<br />

things in your life you have no control over, the wall to your right represents everything you have total control over, and<br />

the space in between represents the things over which you have varying degrees of control.<br />

Focusing too much time on things that are out of our control, like something that happened in the past or other people’s<br />

actions, is counterproductive. One of the things that you have total control over is whether or not you decide to proactively<br />

plan the events of your day. Taking control of that one aspect of your life can be a powerful thing.<br />

Keys to effective planning include:<br />

Review Values and Goals and Set Specific Daily Tasks That Reflect Your Values: Most of the people reading this probably<br />

already use some kind of to-do list each day. Very rarely do the highest priorities show up on that to-do list. When you<br />

start to see that the highest priorities are showing up on your daily task list it creates a sense of peace knowing that you<br />

aren’t letting those things pass you by.<br />

Evaluate Time Vs. Task and Anticipate Obstacles: Take time to decide if you are over-planning. Ask yourself the question,<br />

“Am I planning ten hours worth of things and only have about seven hours worth of discretionary time today?”<br />

Prioritize Tasks: Spend fifteen minutes each day formally planning your day.<br />

If you start today to implement these commitments into your daily routine it could make a significant difference in your<br />

stress levels, in your personal effectiveness, and in enhancing the balance and joy in your life and your effectiveness in<br />

building the business.<br />

GLUTATHIONE AND THE LIVER<br />

It’s a clear fact that we live in a toxic environment. The foods we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink,<br />

all contain chemicals and toxins. For our bodies, the daunting task of getting rid of all these toxins starts in<br />

the liver. The liver is one of the hardest working and important organs in the body.<br />

The liver essentially acts as a washing machine, cleansing the body of many damaging toxins<br />

before they can enter the bloodstream. It is also responsible for removing dangerous microorganisms<br />

such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites from the blood before they have the<br />

opportunity to invade critical parts of the body where they can do the most damage.<br />

This is important since many of the toxins in our bodies can actually be produced by the body.<br />

Fatty tissues can be stored for years and then release toxins into the body as byproducts of<br />

energy conversion during activities like exercise, fasting, or during times of stress. Nutritional<br />

deficiencies, which are increasingly prevalent due to poor diets and conventionally-grown foods,<br />

can also increase the amount of internally produced toxins.<br />

This is one reason a healthy diet is so important, because it supports optimal liver function while at the same time reducing<br />

the amount of toxins your body produces. Of the many jobs the liver performs, detoxification is the liver’s most important.<br />

The most essential element used by the liver in this process is glutathione (GSH).<br />

How Glutathione Aids in the Detoxification Process<br />

During detoxification, the liver filters the blood, removing large toxins and unwanted chemicals. The liver filters everything<br />

ingested by the body and converts any toxins into water soluble chemicals that are expelled in urine, bile, or stool. This<br />

generally occurs in a two-phase process.<br />

During phase I the liver either completely neutralizes toxins or modifies them into weaker, less harmful toxins. Toxins are<br />

reduced to smaller fragments, which can then be more easily neutralized in the next phase.<br />

During phase II more powerful enzymes are produced which continue the detoxification process. GSH is produced during<br />

phase I, but released into the body, along with other antioxidants, during phase II. Antioxidants protect cells from oxidative<br />

damage caused by free radicals. GSH is by far the most important antioxidant produced by the body for neutralizing free<br />

radicals and is a principle component of phase II detoxification.<br />

When a person is exposed to large amounts of toxins for long periods there is an imbalance between the two phases. When<br />

this occurs, key nutrients such as GSH levels are depleted. Liver damage and oxidative stress can result when phase II<br />

processes, dependent on GSH, fail to occur. It is vital to supply the body with proper nutrients while limiting the amount of<br />

free radicals we ingest.<br />

When Nimfa and Antonio Diez, of the Philippines, first heard about <strong>Max</strong><br />

<strong>International</strong> from a long-time friend, Romeo Lestojas, the last thing they<br />

needed was one more thing on their plate. Antonio kept busy with his career as<br />

a national sales and marketing manager of a large chemical company and Nimfa<br />

managed a bridal shop. So despite having great trust in Romeo, the timing was<br />

all wrong and <strong>Max</strong> got put on the backburner.<br />

Then, several months later, Antonio said he experienced a paradigm shift when he read Dr. Keller’s book on glutathione.<br />

“As a chemical engineer by profession, I can easily relate to the science behind the product, particularly the biological<br />

Powerful product, dedicated upline account for success<br />

Martin Moreau, of Victoria, British Columbia, found out about <strong>Max</strong><br />

<strong>International</strong> during a routine in-home consultation for a window<br />

company he worked with as a sales consultant. The owner of the<br />

home was a visibly frail woman who apologized for her condition.<br />

When he returned two weeks after the initial consultation, the woman’s<br />

condition had changed to the point where Martin couldn’t help asking<br />

about it. She told him about a supplement she had ordered over the<br />

Internet through a company called <strong>Max</strong> <strong>International</strong>. She said she<br />

now had energy to do things she hadn’t done in quite a while.<br />

As a believer in nutritional supplements, this got Martin’s attention. Remarkably, later the same day he was scheduled to<br />

work a booth at a three-day trade show his window company was participating in. Martin feels that by no coincidence there<br />

was a <strong>Max</strong> <strong>International</strong> booth set up right across from his.<br />

“On my break I visited with the people running the booth and was absolutely amazed by their experiences with <strong>Max</strong>GXL ® ,”<br />

Martin said. “If it weren’t for the experience with my customer earlier that day, I would have found the stories hard to believe.”<br />

At the end of the trade show Martin was given an Intro Pack and ordered a month supply. After experiencing very little the<br />

first couple weeks on the product, he called to ask for his money back, but was wisely advised to continue on the product<br />

until he used up his supply. Then, after five weeks on the product, he noticed his energy levels and quality of sleep had<br />

improved to the point where he didn’t have to hit the snooze button three or four times every morning, as he did before, and<br />

was much more productive during the day. By extension, he became quite interested in the business side of <strong>Max</strong>.<br />

Martin experienced so much adversity over the next several months—both in terms of health and his <strong>Max</strong> business—that<br />

he feels he wouldn’t have stayed with the company if it weren’t for the strength of the products and upline support. He<br />

searched his upline until he found Henry and Teresa Kramer, who have been amazing.<br />

“They took me in with open arms, even though they had very little to gain financially from working with me,” Martin said.<br />

“I can’t say enough about their quality of character. They have spent countless hours mentoring and supporting me. If it<br />

weren’t for them I wouldn’t be in <strong>Max</strong> and I certainly wouldn’t be doing as well as I am doing now.”<br />

Consequently, Martin replaced his former career and is working <strong>Max</strong> full-time, even though he was only making a few<br />

hundred dollars a month through <strong>Max</strong> at the time. He had so much faith in the products and his team that, despite a lack of<br />

former network marketing experience, Martin felt it was a risk worth taking.<br />

“I really caught the vision of how I could be part of a company that was going to change the world with its products and<br />

approach to business,” Martin said. “All I wanted to do was share <strong>Max</strong> products and grow my business.”<br />

Joallyn and Dave Cartwright, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, feel fortunate to have some of<br />

the best mentors in the company. Joallyn said that being mentored by her parents, Alan<br />

and Jean Sickman, is nothing new because it is something she has experienced all of<br />

her life, but they are never ones to force or even strongly persuade. Joallyn described<br />

Alan’s approach with her as somewhat matter-of-fact.<br />

“He is a man that does all of his due diligence before making a decision,” Joallyn said.<br />

“Lucky for me, I know he makes wise decisions and is very thorough.”<br />

Joallyn said that after flying to Salt Lake to meet Greg Fullerton and Steve Scott personally she knew instantly <strong>Max</strong><br />

<strong>International</strong> was a good company. She had been running her own business for several years and, despite having<br />

no network marketing experience, she knew it was an opportunity she had to pursue. Although many people find<br />

network marketing to be scary and intimidating, when you find the right company it’s almost a natural process.<br />

“I believe that networking is something we do every day of our lives,” Joallyn said. “We automatically refer things we<br />

like to our friends and family, whether it’s a hair dresser, restaurant, a favorite book, or a product. The nice thing about<br />

referring products in a company like <strong>Max</strong> is you actually get to make some money for your efforts.”<br />

Social networking websites are a great resource, Joallyn feels. If you use avenues correctly people will ask about<br />

your business. One success story involved a friend on Facebook that Joallyn had known since sixth grade, Paula<br />

Manayan.<br />

“Dave and I were posting pictures from the 2009 Elevate Convention and Paula messaged me asking, ‘What is <strong>Max</strong>?’<br />

Two months later Paula and her husband, Dr. Rex Manayan, became Associates,” Joallyn said.<br />

Joallyn feels it is all about your team. More often than not, when someone fails at this business it is less their failure<br />

than that of their sponsor. One of Joallyn’s mottos is “There is no ‘I’ in team.”<br />

If you don’t help others achieve their goals then you will not achieve yours,” she said.<br />

Joallyn has tried to get her team members to take advantage of social networking. A few of her friends had between<br />

10 to 18 friends on sites like Facebook and Twitter and hardly ever looked at their pages. Now those team members<br />

have hundreds of social networking friends and look at their pages every day. Joallyn feels it’s a great way to rekindle<br />

old friendships, and if they end up getting involved in the business it’s a bonus. But the focus should always be the<br />

friendship first, not recruiting.<br />

“We are truly excited to advance to Platinum,” Joallyn said. “But we’re even more excited about helping change lives,<br />

both physically and financially, for the better.”<br />
