Chris Cato a re expecting a second<br />
child in November to join big bro<strong>the</strong>r<br />
Kyle, now three. Mark Robert s o n<br />
sends news from Malibu that he has<br />
been promoted to Assistant General<br />
Counsel at Hilton Hotels Corporation.<br />
He has been involved in <strong>the</strong> merger <strong>of</strong><br />
Promus Hotel Corp. (2,000 hotels)<br />
with Hilton and subsidiary hotels. In<br />
his new job, he will be involved in legal<br />
efforts in e-commerce, multimedia and<br />
<strong>the</strong> internet, information technology<br />
and services and franchising. On <strong>the</strong><br />
home front, son Dash is five years-old<br />
and daughter Claire is one —“but<br />
wants to be five.” Andy Tebbe (big hi,<br />
Andy!) wants us to know he married<br />
Amy Bettle in September, 1999 and is<br />
living in <strong>the</strong> Buckhead area <strong>of</strong> Atlanta.<br />
He reports that he was part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> team<br />
re p resenting Sprint in its pro p o s e d<br />
m e rger with MCI World Com and<br />
helped in setting up <strong>the</strong>ir Sprint PCS<br />
“tracking” stock, including completing<br />
an IPO <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> stock. Carol Kao<br />
(great hearing from you!) writes from<br />
San Diego. She is now partner at Luce,<br />
Forward, Hamilton & Scripps specializing<br />
in estate planning. She is happily<br />
m a rried and re p o rts that she and<br />
Ca<strong>the</strong>rine Dring have c<strong>of</strong>fee toge<strong>the</strong>r,<br />
and also keeps in touch with Bill Fong.<br />
Under what she misses: “being able to<br />
wear jeans every day, spring break and<br />
summer vacations.” Greg McCambridge<br />
(nice to hear from you!) checks<br />
in from L.A. He is still at <strong>the</strong> L.A.<br />
County Public Defender’s <strong>of</strong>fice and<br />
“still enjoying it.” All right! Nice to<br />
know some <strong>of</strong> us are still enchanted.<br />
His son, Declan Patrick, was born in<br />
December. Under sightings, he reports<br />
that Ray Bilbeaux and he rejoiced over<br />
<strong>the</strong> Laker’s victory. I’m quite positive<br />
you two weren’t alone <strong>the</strong>re. And Ray<br />

The twin girls — remember she was<br />
expecting <strong>the</strong>m in law school?— are<br />
now nine years old and doing great and<br />
she is “expecting ano<strong>the</strong>r ba<strong>by</strong> any<br />
minute!” (Congratulations, Janice!)<br />
Lori Meloch (yeah!) writes from L.A.<br />
that after almost one year as a federal<br />
probation <strong>of</strong>ficer, she is back at <strong>the</strong><br />
State Bar working as any attorney with<br />
<strong>the</strong> client security fund. She wants us<br />
to know she is still enjoying her handsome<br />
husband and wonderful son. And<br />
Lori reports under sightings that Lise<br />
Anderson (photographed in area newspapers,<br />
looking really stunning <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
way, as a legal monitor during <strong>the</strong><br />
DNC in L.A.) well, she makes an excellent<br />
aunt to her son. Lise, you’ll recall,<br />
is with <strong>the</strong> Writers Guild in L.A. Scott<br />

writes from Glendale that he resigned<br />
in January from his partnership at<br />
Keesel, Young & Logan in Long Beach<br />
to form Palmer & Lombardi LLP.<br />

Soglio says it’s <strong>the</strong> “same old” under<br />
<strong>the</strong> 9 to 5 scene, but she wants us to<br />
know she had daughter #3 in January.<br />
(Congrats, Robin!) Under class sightings,<br />
Robin reports seeing Karen Yazmajian,<br />
but nothing more. Bill Scarff<br />
announces that he has a new job as<br />
chief litigation counsel for Allergan in<br />
Irvine. Allergan, Bill wants us to know,<br />
is a NYSE-traded pharmaceutical company.<br />
And in characteristic understatement,<br />
he notes, “It’s a good move<br />
for me.” He also muses that “kids are<br />
getting bigger, I am getting older.” Join<br />
<strong>the</strong> parade, Bill! David Kendig (hello!)<br />
checks in from Orange County. He<br />
writes he is chair <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Orange County<br />
Bar’s Real Estate Section and is living<br />
in Irvine with wife Susan and two kids.<br />
He also warmly (or wryly? I couldn’t<br />
tell) appraises classmate Peter Gutierrez<br />
as, “doing great at LA County<br />
Counsel. He beat me in a CEQA writ<br />
case in May.” Jeff Schneider makes a<br />
big announcement: <strong>the</strong> whole family<br />
moved from L.A. to Novato, California<br />
(Nor<strong>the</strong>rn California—Marin County).<br />

job with an internet company,<br />

Congratulations, Jeff! Cindy Aronberg,<br />
in Santa Monica, California, wants us<br />
to know she is working as a Deputy<br />
State Controller in L.A. and Sacramento<br />
(how do you do that?) and that<br />
“happily” she has no legal news <strong>of</strong> note<br />
to report. Under class sightings, she<br />
writes that Julie (Stone) Rossiter just<br />
had ba<strong>by</strong> # 2, Kyra Elena. Michele Milner<br />
writes from L.A. that <strong>the</strong>se days<br />
she is working “more like 9 a.m. – 9<br />
p.m., at home with two kids, doing<br />
yoga and interested in intuitive Feng<br />
Shui.” Noah is 4 years and Calaya is<br />
18 months. Under class sightings, she<br />
reports that she went to <strong>the</strong> Hollywood<br />
Bowl with Maxine Park and her oney<br />
e a r-old Simon, along with J a n e t<br />
Swerdlow, Adam Wergeles and Melissa<br />
Balaban (“via cell phone”). There <strong>the</strong>y<br />
are again! Also, Michele says she and<br />
Laurie Tr a k t m a n — a partner at<br />
Gilbert & Sackman —hang out alot.<br />
Stephanie Schroeder announces she is<br />
working in <strong>the</strong> motion picture group at<br />
Paramount Pictures. (congratulations,<br />
Stephanie!) Sam Chuck writes that he<br />
has been named president <strong>of</strong> his law<br />
f i rm, Liccardo, Rossi, Sturges &<br />
McNeil. This no doubt, because he has<br />
been selected as one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> top litigators<br />
in <strong>the</strong> Silicon Valley <strong>by</strong> San Jose<br />
Magazine. On <strong>the</strong> home front, he and<br />
wife Liza are expecting <strong>the</strong>ir first child,<br />
a daughter, and recently moved to a<br />
new house in San Jose (congrats! Sam).<br />
Under class sightings, he writes that<br />
Chris Johnston just took a job with UC<br />
Irvine. Ken Ryken reports in from<br />
Hayward, California that he is still<br />
with <strong>the</strong> Alameda County DA’s <strong>of</strong>fice<br />
in Oakland. He was one <strong>of</strong> three prosecutors<br />
in <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice to receive a grant<br />
position under <strong>the</strong> federal Vi o l e n c e<br />
Against Women Act (VAWA). His<br />
duties include “vertical pro s e c u t i o n<br />
( f rom charging to trial) <strong>of</strong> serious<br />
and/or violent felonies against women,<br />
especially felony domestic violence.”<br />
Ken writes he finds <strong>the</strong> work “very<br />
rewarding and personally satisfying. I<br />
wish <strong>the</strong> same for all my classmates.”<br />

worry that we wouldn’t remember her!<br />

computer-guru husband, Jeff and her<br />
three-year-old son Nathan “definitely<br />
