Superior sulcus or Pancoast tumors. III.
* best results with employing concurrent preoperative
irradiation [30 Gy in 10 treatments] and cisplatin and
etoposide → en bloc resection of tumor and involved chest
wall 3 - 6 wks later (65% of thoracotomy specimens →
complete response or minimal residual microscopic
disease on pathologic evaluation);
- 2 - yr survival = 55% for all eligible pts and = 70% for pts
with complete resection
