Five lichens new to Denmark
ERIK LARSEN
Bacidia caligans (Nyl.) A. L. Sm.
Bacidia caligans was found at the ruin of
Alling Kloster north of Silkeborg on a siliceous
basement stone close to the ground. It is
normally mentioned in the literature as growing
on more or less calcareous stonework, but
dripping of rain water from the mortar
betrn'een the stones in the basement may have
raised the pH.
The apothecia were rather small (0.2-0.5
**), slightly concave to plane; the disc varying
in colour from pale brown to red-brown
with a more or less distinct margin which was
pale to dark brown-black, but usually darker
than the disc. Bacidia caligans is recently
reported from Sweden and Nonvay (Nordin et
al. L992, Coppins 1992a).
Specimens examined: East lutland: Alling
Klosterruin, 200 m east of Alling s0, GrOnbrek,
Lgg4,larsen (C, herb. Iirsen).
Bacidia egenula (Nyl.) Arnold
larsen, E. L995: Five lichens new to Denmark. Graphis Scripta 7: 9L-93.
Stockholm. ISSN 090L-7593.
Bacidia caligans, Bacidia egenula, Hypocenomyce sorophora, Lecidea
insidiosa, and Psorotichia schaereri are reported as new to Denmark.
Erik Larsen, Grgnkjerc vej 32, DK-7000 Fredericia, Denmark.
On the same stone as that mentioned above
were some specimens of Bacidia egenula with
0.3-0.7 mm large, flat apothecia. Compared
with those of Bacidia caligans the apothecia
were more dark, and both the margin and disc
were more or less brown-black. For a more
detailed description see Coppins (192b).
Bacidia egenula and B. caligans are closely
related to B. arnoldiana, and they are mainly
separated on the pigmentation of the apothecia
as shown in Table 1. All three species have
a greenish, finely granular thallus, ascus structures
as in the genus Lecanora, and
needle-shaped ascospores. They probably
belong to the genus Bacidina YEzda.
Specimens examined: East Jutland; Alling
Klosterruin, 200 m east of Alling s0, GrOnbrek,
L994, larsen (C, herb. [arsen).
Hypocenomyce sorophora (Vainio)
P. James & Poelt
Hypocenomyce sorophora was found on a
fence post of pine near the cost at Als Odde
on the east cost of Jutland. No apothecia was
seen, but betrveen the fawn crustose thallus,
which bursts into farinose soredia and reacts
K+ yellow, C+ red and P+ yellow, were a lot
of pycnidia with a greenish wall (N* red). The
conidia were mostly bacilliform, 4-4.5 x 2 pm.
Specimens examined: East Jutland; Tidal
meadow at Odde Sommerland, 2 km north of
Als Odde, L994, larsen (C, herb. I-arsen).
Lecidea insidiosa Th. Fr.
Lecidea insidiosa was found on the same fence
post as I/. sorophora mentioned above. The
