32 Transportation and Parking Project Name: Major highway projects that impact WVU farm property Project Descriptions: 1. The Pastureland Parkway would connect Rt. 705 to the I-68 Pierpont interchange. A consequence of this highway is that the WVU Organic Farm may have to be relocated. 2. The Beechurst Connector would connect the Mileground to the Downtown campus Long-range plans are for the Davis College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Consumer Sciences to move some programs to the Reedsville farm.
SITE Project Name: Transportation Center and Garage Project Description: Includes an enclosed accessible connection between the Health Sciences Personal Rapid Transit station and county and WVU buses and WVU Parking Area 81. Includes bus stop waiting area for county buses and WVU shuttle buses as well as a ticket vending station and bike parking area. First phase of the project is partially funded by a US Department of Transportation grant. Matching local funding is anticipated to be the value of land devoted to the project. Anticipated additional phases including multilevel garage with 1,800 parking spaces may be funded by the US Department of Transportation and/or by WVU Parking revenue bonds and/or WVU Hospitals. Strategic Goal(s): Goal 3: Enhance the Educational Environment for Student Learning Goal 5: Improve West Virginia’s Health, Project Name: PRT Upgrades Project Description: The first phase of the PRT was dedicated in 1972. Connecting WVU’s downtown, Evansdale, and Health Sciences Center campuses, the Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) has shuttled students, faculty, staff, and Morgantown residents for more than 30 years. Being 30 years old, the PRT is in need of a major upgrade to the 8.2 miles of guideway, five passenger stations, and a fleet of fully automated vehicles.
