Hence its name: color-sequential architecture. It has the advantage of a lower component count; hence one can expect lower cost. There are not only advantages to this approach. E.g. rgb color wheels have a maximum throughput of 33%; optical performance of the system is hampered by lower throughput and perceivable color break-up phenomena. To obtain good video quality the frame rate must be multiplied at least by a factor of three. In [15], frame rates well in excess of 400Hz are used.
