Vines Friends of Rachel’s Club
“People will never know how far a little kindness will go”
- Rachel Joy Scott
The Friends of Rachel Club was created the week
of September 26 with over 70 students. This club is
open to all students. Since then the club has been
going strong with Kristy Logan as the faculty advisor.
The club meets regularly to focus on sustaining a positive environment for
all Vines students. The club did participate in the Plano Senior High Homecoming
parade and did a diaper drive for teen moms in Plano.
In the spring, we are planning a walk against violence to Haggard and Wilson.
We will be walking there and talking to the kids about ways to get
along with others without violence.
To learn more about Vines Friends of Rachel club, contact Kristy Logan at
kristy.logan@pisd.edu. Vines PTSA is proud to have sponsored this
program which directly benefits our students, staff and our community.
Life Time Membership Committee
School volunteers are a support system that helps our wonderful Vines
teachers and staff in providing the best learning environment for our students.
Each year the PTSA selects volunteers that have consistently supported
our schools over the years. If you would like to serve on this committee,
please contact membership chair Janett McKee at fjmte@macdar.com

Stand Up and Be Heard — Attend School Board
Parents who want to see improvements in special education are encouraged
to attend the PISD school board meeting on Tuesday, December
13. The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. in the board room at Plano ISD Administration
Building on 15th street.
As PISD begins the search for a new superintendent, as well as develop
a new strategic plan, the board needs to understand that special education
is critical.
A few parents have offered to speak during the community comments
part of the meeting and it would be great to have a room full of special
education parents standing in support! Topics include:
Technology Support for Special Education Curriculum, including Tablet
Technology
Credit-bearing Peer Mentoring Curriculum for High School Students
Special Education Parent Advisory Committee, including Administrators,
Teachers, Parents and Student, featuring monthly meetings to
provide direct input on curriculum and programs.
Transition planning—from school to LIFE, including appropriate work
-study opportunities for every student.
Of course, all parents who wish to share their suggestions are encouraged
to do so! If you’d like more information, contact Teri Kachur at
