THE NEW RECLAMATION GROUP: 

The New Reclamation Group is a dynamic company managed by hands-on entrepreneurs using 

new technology and methods through its over 80 facilities, pioneering the way to a total recycling 

and waste management service. 

With management having over 30 years of experience, Reclam is the largest processor of both 

ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals and coupled with plastic, paper, cardboard, rubber, glass 

and non-toxic waste. 

The New Reclamation Group is proud to be the leading supplier of secondary raw materials 

recovered from recycled scrap and waste in Africa. 

The company has branches in Swaziland, Mozambique, Malawi, Kenya, Zambia and Botswana. 

The company also operates in Zimbabwe and there are other branches planned in Africa, in the 

immediate future.

ACCREDITATION 

Reclam is certified as ISO 9001, and 14001 and 18001 compliant. 

ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for the quality management 

of businesses, applicable to the processes that create and control the products 

and services ensuring that the needs and expectations of customers are met. 

ISO 14001 is the internationally recognised standard for the environmental 

management of businesses, prescribing controls for those activities that have an 

effect on the environment, including the use of natural resources, handling and

OHSAS 18001 is the latest certification specification for Occupational Health and 

Safety Management Systems, based on already published criteria such as BS

SCOPE OF WORK 

The scope of work Reclam entails is 

the collection, movement, 

management, processing, grading 

and removal of all scrap steel, ferrous 

and non ferrous. 

Reclam will ensure maximum 

financial return on all recyclable

responsible for ensuring at all times 

a neat, clean & workable storage 

with no downtime due to scrap and 

waste accumulation.


GENERATED MATERIAL AND PRODUCTS 

Reclam currently manages and processes steel scrap on some of the largest mining operations. 

We are equipped to handle and process all grades of metals. 

With a proficient and skilled staff compliment with unequalled experience in recyclable material, 

we are accomplished in managing the following material: 

Scrap Metals including Ferrous and Nonferrous material. 

Redundant Cables, Motors and Transformers.


PERSONNEL 

Reclam undertakes to supply a number of qualified and certified personnel to assist in the 

collection, sorting and general upkeep of your waste and scrap material areas ensuring a clean 

and safe workspace, thus resulting in minimum incidents and maximum production. (All Reclam 

personnel will be placed at Reclam’s cost and will function as per your requirements). 

All Reclam personnel will undergo medical testing and induction as per your regulations. 

All Reclam personnel are literate, and will complete the relevant SHEA training program. A full 

record of training and competency will be kept and submitted. 

All personnel will adhere to the customers: 

Policies and Procedures 

SHEQ Procedures, 

Rules and Regulations, 

Code of Conduct and 

Working Hours.


PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) 

Reclam does not take workplace safety for granted, and we realise our people are 

vulnerable, and have a fundamental right to work in environments where health and 

safety are suitably managed. 

Our commitment to provide suitable equipment to meet all PPE requirements and to 

offer total workplace protection, is a statuary requirement of Reclam and we’ll 

continue to do so for the duration of this contract and further.


COMMUNICATION AND REPORTING 

Reclam believes in open and frequent communication to ensure the ongoing business 

relationship with our clients! 

We will furthermore call regular staff meetings, ensuring staff is always informed of safety and 

induction training. Regular operational and SHEQ meetings will be held to monitor and maintain 

the highest standards on your premises. 

Safety and environmental issues are of key importance to Reclam and regular reports of such 

will be furnished to the customer.


VEHICLES 

Reclam has an extensive fleet of trucks for the collection of scrap metals & other recyclables, that 

will conform to your strict standards at all times. Placement of bins at scrap collection locations 

around your facilities and collections of such bins will be carried out by our fleet. 

Reclam will conform to your 

strictest security standards and 

all collections and deliveries will 

be done in conjunction with your 

security escorts as per your 

requirements. 

All trucks and loads are covered 

with nets or tarps to prevent 

contamination or spillage.


VEHICLES 

Reclam will ensure all vehicles provided will conform to the mines strict standards and at all 

times be site inducted, with the correct FRCP, MCC standards as well as licensing.


VEHICLES – DRIVER ACCREDITATION 

Reclam has committed to ensuring its drivers have the required accreditation for all areas of your 

site operations.


VEHICLES TRACKING 

Reclam makes use of the latest and most sophisticated technology to track and record vehicle 

movement, thereby minimizing the risk of unnecessary deviation off routes.


SABS APPROVED WEIGHBRIDGES 

The New Reclamation Group has in excess of 200 weighbridges and scales, which are maintained 

daily by certified technicians and calibrated according to ISO standards. 

The weighing process is recorded through weighbridge reports and photo and video recording, 

giving you peace of mind and ensuring you receive the correct payment for the correct weight.

OPERATION EQUIPMENT 

Reclam has a large number of processing equipment, including the following: 

Four Fragmentisers (or Shredders) located at the main industrial centers in South Africa. 

(These Fragmentisers are capable of processing 50 tons of steel per hour each). 

In excess of one hundred high density ferrous and non-ferrous balers. 

Various mobile balers for processing in remote areas or construction sites. 

Over five hundred static shears, 

mobile shears, croppers, raspers, 

grinders, briquetting machines, 

choppers, granulators, cable strippers 

and a range of other processing and 

cutting equipment.


FERROUS METALS (STEEL) 

All ferrous material will be collected, separated and graded to ensure maximum selling price. 

Segregated and processed material will be placed in 6m³ and 9m³ skip bins for collection by the 

purchaser. 

Common grades of steel found in the mining industry: 

Heavy mixed scrap steel 

Thin plate and galvanized steel 

Wire rope 

Pipe 

Shavings


NON FERROUS METALS (COPPER, STAINLESS STEEL, ALUMINIUM ETC.) 

Separate lockable bins for non-ferrous material will be provided. These bins will be removed from 

their various locations, replaced with an empty bin and transported to the Central Salvage Yard, 

where they will remain locked whilst in storage in the salvage yard. 

The removal of nonferrous materials will be accompanied by the necessary paperwork from the 

sourced location in order to identify the commodity/commodities whilst stored in the locked 

bins. (Emphasis is given to the fact of possible security personnel escorting non-ferrous material, 

should that be required). 

Nonferrous material will be processed and upgraded by our experienced staff in the Central 

Salvage Yard. These valuable commodities will then be quantified and stored in the nonferrous 

security store.


REDUNDANT CABLE 

Reclam undertakes the most environmentally friendly manner of removal and processing of cable, 

with absolutely NIL burning of any cable and only granulating and stripping of such materials in our 

granulating plant, as seen here.


WASTE MANAGEMENT 

Reclam focuses on providing innovative and sustainable waste management solutions. 

These include integrated waste management, 

cleaner production, waste minimization, process 

solutions as alternatives to landfill and 

innovative treatment and disposal options, as 

per the following slides.
