PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE BY ANDREW TOTH
T
he recent passing of my brother and the ensuing
trip home from Phoenix gave me a lot of
time to think about what we do with our time
on this planet. While my brother and I were as different
as a 914 and a 928, we shared the love of cars
and driving them hard. Like me, he was active in car
clubs, and always had time to talk cars.
While car clubs center around cars, they provide us so much more than
just a chance to look at exquisite hardware. They help us to experience
life in a unique way and build friendships through those experiences. "It's
not just the cars, it's the people" perfectly expresses the value of PCA and
other clubs like it.
I lived CC40 through email messages of Bob Gutjahr and Steve Kinsley.
Cheryl Taylor brought it all home with excellent pictures that captured the
essence of the day. Those pictures should be available on the web site by
the time you read this. But if you missed Challenge, the fun doesn't stop
there...there's more.
We have three more tours before the year is over: the Friendly Farms Fall
Foliage Tour, the Blackwater Refuge Tour, and the lights of Antietam
Tour. Each one is sure to be memorable. We also have two more autocross
events - one each at the Dorsey MARC lot and the Police Academy
Training Facility.
Each of these events are brought to you by the hard work of volunteers.
To keep them going, and to keep improving our offering to you, the members,
we need people to continue to volunteer. So if you have a few hours
to spare - it doesn't take many - I suggest you talk to the chair of an
event you enjoy. Ask if there is some way to help, regardless of how few
hours you may have offer. I'm sure your help would be welcomed. If you
can support the club with a little more time, consider filling one of the
open board positions, like Publicity, Sponsorship, or Treasurer.
Hope to see you at an event soon.
