Over the past few years Get Golf Ready has proven to be a highly successful program to not only introduce new golfers to the sport, but also as an effective way to create lifetime golfers. Get Golf Ready is a program developed to provide new golfers with the skills and confidence to get out onto the golf course. This program is unique compared to other approaches of instructing new players because it tackles one of the largest obstacles a new player faces, making the transition from the driving range to the course. The basic criteria to qualify as a Get Golf Ready program includes: • Offer a series of group lessons (recommend five sessions) • Cover the basics of golf, i.e. putting, short game, full swing, how to play, etc. • Each session should have an on-course activity • Keep it easy and affordable • Suggest charging $99, but this is flexible Agree to provide clubs for students’ use at no charge New for 2012 is the opportunity to earn MSR credits for Get Golf Ready programs held at your facility. Credits will be awarded based on the amount of classes held at your facility and the number of students to participate. Additional MSR credit will be awarded to those who retain golfers thru their Get Golf Ready Programs. More information will be available in June about MSR credits and Get Golf Ready programs. Coble told the crowd assembled at the dedication today. “Golf is more than just a leisure activity. It means jobs and economic development for our district and state. The 6th District is already home to Pinehurst, the site of past and future U.S. Open Championships. Adding the Carolinas Section Headquarters is another notable achievement for our district. I am thrilled that the PGA decided to ‘come home’ to Greensboro.” Following the Dedication Ceremony, lunch was served at the Bryan Park Golf and Conference Center, with optional golf. The Champions Course at Bryan Park GC will host the CPGA’s first Open Tournament of the Year, the Carolinas Open, May 8-10, 2012. 8
