ISSUE 66 Xmas2012
Hello Everybody
I have agreed to continue as DC with the support of the main committee by planning to spread the
load of responsibility that comes with having a club that offers a high standard of equestrian related
activity throughout the year.
We have agreed to divide up the running of parts of the branch into several subcommittees:
Events (which has run our events for several years)
Rally, Tests & Camps ,
Ickworth ,
Teams
Finance & Admin
If you feel you were able to help in some small way within any of these areas then please do get in
contact.
Anne May, Vicki Roberts, The Cutter Family, Nic Stratton and Liz Walton are stepping down from
their roles, Gary Walton has stepped down from committees although continues to course build &
maintain, they have all given an enormous amount of their time and energy to the branch for which
we are very grateful.
I’m pleased to report that Judith Esterhuizen has agreed to become Treasurer and Amanda Braham
will take on Rally Organiser. Jane Crawford will continue as Eventing Manager and will be Joint
Manager for Dressage with Clare Pettitt, Lynn Mulhern continues as Show Jumping Manager, Libby
Lawson as Tet Manager, Kelly Walton as Quiz and Horse & Pony Care Manager/Trainer and Anne
May has agreed to manage Gosling Cup.
Since we have been so successful at the Horse & Pony Care Competition over the past few years we
have been asked to host the Area Competition for 2013 which is usually held at the end of the Easter
holidays. Get in contact with Kelly Walton if you would like to take part in the competition since
training will start shortly (also useful for your equestrian knowledge and preparing for tests).
Enclosed within the newsletter are several rally forms offering something for everybody, xc, sj,
mounted games & flatwork. We’re also holding a fun Farm Ride with lunch at West Hall Farm,
Rickinghall and the PC Hunt meet in Long Melford in the Christmas holidays. Please do book in to
all of these as early as possible in order to give the organisers plenty of notice.

Once again another year has flown by with too many activities and competitions to list here, although
it has been a dreadful year for cancellations and weather related change of plans it has been an
exciting one and we have made great achievements to name just a few – opening The Club Room,
producing a successful Gosling Cup, strong team performances including several qualifications for
Championships and organising (surviving !) very busy events. None of these would be possible
without an enormous amount of work carried out by volunteers who willingly organise events, rallies,
camps and teams and I would like to send a massive thank you to them all for their effort which I
know the membership very much appreciates.
Have a very happy Christmas and best wishes for 2013.
Hi Everyone!
Horse and Pony Care & Quiz 2013
Following my piece in the previous newsletter I am afraid to say that there has been extremely poor
interest this year with regard to the above teams. Thank you to those who have got back to me, I will
be in touch in due course with details of training.
You may not be aware but this year the SHPC are hosting the Horse and Pony Care Area Qualifier so
I would like to be able to have some strong teams to take part, however this can only happen if
members come forward!
Both of these competitions, and the training linked with them are extremely helpful with regard to
learning about caring for your horse or pony as well as an array of other areas which will be covered;
all of which will only increase your knowledge. From taking part myself for many years I can say
that participating in these teams gives you an awareness of everything that is linked to keeping horses
and ponies, and of being part of The Pony Club, and is a very valuable learning experience.
I do hope that more of you will consider coming forward for training, please contact me, Kelly
Walton, on 07709463020 or at kelly.walton53@yahoo.co.uk. Thanks!
SADLY FOR LOAN
Jack welsh section D, been Jessica Hensons beloved ride for past 3 years, college commitments force
loan. (We loan him from Leanne Cox who actually owns him)
Jack has done everything, is still at 18 years young a fantastic jumper competing at Burghley for
pony club, doing great clear. He has qualified and competed at nationals for pony club both with
Leanne and ~Jess and last October won the BSPS working hunter championship for large
breed mountain and moorlands.
Although he loves to jump, we only do cross country on very good ground and prefer to jump him in
an arena now, wherever possible, he is happy to jump on grass, but not hard ground to save his legs.
He is a great character, and though happily still jumps 3ft 6, could really do with stepping down and
doing less demanding work, he has not been ridden much since Burghley so is not currently very fit.
He loves to hack out, though we do not hack on roads where we live.
We would love him to stay either with us and be loaned from here, (Lackford) or from Leannes at
Whepstead. However we realise he may have to move, but the right home is very important and
we only wish to loan locally.
For more information please contact Jackie or Jess. Home Tel. No: 01284 728661 please leave a
message and I will reply, or email: jacquiehenson01@gmail.com
