Changing the CD-ROM Driver Settings
SBIDE.SYS
Two drivers are needed to control your CD-ROM drive: SBIDE.SYS
(hardware-dependent) and MSCDEX.EXE (Microsoft CD-ROM
Extensions). The installation program automatically updates the
CONFIG.SYS file to include a statement similar to:
DEVICE=C:\SBCD\DRV\SBIDE.SYS /D:MSCD001
/P:1E8,11,3EE
C:\path\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001 /M:8 /V
SBIDE.SYS supports primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary
ports, industry conventions for I/O addresses and IRQ line used by an
IDE interface.
The syntax of the SBIDE.SYS statement in CONFIG.SYS is:
DEVICE=C:\path\SBIDE.SYS /D:device /P:addr,irq, addr

Parameter Description
path Directory in which you installed the CD-ROM software.
/D:device Default is C:\SBCD
/P:address,irq, Name of the CD-ROM drive; must be the same as device
address name in AUTOEXEC.BAT. Default is /D:MSCD001.
Base address for IDE interface. address can be 1F0, 170, 1E8,
or 168; default is 1E8. irq can be 10, 11, 12, 14, or 15; default
is 11.
