a number of activities related to the development of the
library or archive groups, including the determination and
coordination of selection policy, assessment of needs of
users and potential users, collection use studies, collection
evaluation, identification of collection needs, selection and
acquisition of materials, planning for resource sharing,

collotype {E} * A photo-mechanical process made directly
from a hardened emulsion of bichromated gelatin on glass.
A collotype, which is a variety of photogravure, gives a
continuous tone image. The process was discovered in
1852 by William Henry Fox Talbot. The first person to use
the process for the production of printing plates was
Alphonse Louis Poitevin. Phototype, albertype, artotype,
heliotype and Lichtdruck are forms of collotype; also called
