MEET MME MOVIEMENT
Germany's entertainment specialist
MME MOVIEMENT operates in the segment “TV production”. It develops and produces entertainment programmes
for German TV stations in the four programming areas of
• fiction
• non-fiction
• documentary
• show/music.
By working in entertainment, MME MOVIEMENT serves the programming sector that boasts by far the greatest
programming demand among German TV stations.
One of MME MOVIEMENT's focuses is on development and production to order of serial formats. Serial formats,
i.e. productions broadcast daily or weekly, afford TV stations the possibility of winning over audiences to their
programme, thereby ensuring loyalty to the station and forming viewing habits. In addition, serial formats can
become labels – they are so called programme labels which can be used beyond TV distribution, for instance by
merchandising products, print products or video and DVD ("subsidiary rights"). MME MOVIEMENT has created
such programme labels, for instance with “Schmeckt nicht, gibt’s nicht”,“Einsatz in 4 Wänden”,“Richterin Barbara
Salesch” and “Zwei bei Kallwass”.
The bulk of MME MOVIEMENT's production is currently done as a production to order, i.e. the distribution of subsidiary
rights is normally handled by the TV station. MME MOVIEMENT has secured some subsidiary rights to
individual productions and has started to distribute these subsidiary rights itself. The current trend of multiplexing
media content via various distribution channels, (e.g. internet, mobile phones) may give rise to new subsidiary
rights, offering additional income opportunities for the producer.
In addition to productions based on proprietary developments, MME MOVIEMENT produces programmes on the
basis of a licence acquired for German-speaking countries (e.g. "Top of the Pops" from BBC Worldwide Ltd., London).
As a rule, however, no further subsidiary rights are acquired with the TV licence. Owing to the ongoing globalisation
of TV markets, internationally successful entertainment programming, along with movies and fictional
series, are increasingly being licensed to Germany and adapted for German consumption. Within the programming
areas that it occupies, MME MOVIEMENT positions itself as a licensee that possesses extensive knowledge
of the German market.
In producing programmes, MME MOVIEMENT draws mainly on external resources and uses term contracts to
meet requirements for flexibility in the project-orientated TV production business. Only functions that are critical
to success, for example content development or production management are covered by internal resources.
