With pro forma revenues (including the moviement GmbH and its subsidiaries for
the entire year 2004) of around 80 million € in 2004, MME MOVIEMENT has further
consolidated its position as the fifth largest TV producer in Germany. Compared to its
competitors, MME MOVIEMENT is the largest TV producer in Germany independent
of broadcasting organisations and groups. Of the pro forma revenues in 2004 over
80% involved the broadcasting organisations of the RTL Group and the ProSieben-
Sat.1 Group.
Following the takeover of the moviement GmbH the consolidated annual revenues
for 2004 of the MME MOVIEMENT Group amounted to 50.8 million € (previous year:
17.5 million €). In compliance with the IFRS provisions for the consolidated accounts
of the MME AG, the revenues of the purchased companies, moviement GmbH and its
subsidiaries, has been consolidated proportionately from the time of acquisition. As
a result the group has moved into a new revenue dimension compared to the previous
year.
The largest proportion of the productions made by the MME MOVIEMENT Group are
made by means of so-called commissioned productions. This means that in most
cases the productions are developed in cooperation with the commissioning broadcaster,
are based on a calculated fixed price and are normally financed by the broadcaster.
If one analyses the various broadcasting programmes it can be determined that
apart from regular programme novelties, a large proportion of the programming of
the established major broadcasting organisations are programme serials of many
years standing, which possess a high degree of recognition among viewers. In this
regard MME MOVIEMENT has in the past laid emphasis on the development and
establishment of such serial programmes and currently is positioned strongly in serial
terms with seven daily programmes (“Zwei bei Kallwass” (Sat.1),“Richterin Barbara
Salesch” (Sat.1), “Das Familiengericht” (RTL), “Das Jugendgericht” (RTL), “Einsatz in 4
Wänden” (RTL), “Niedrig & Kuhnt – Kommissare ermitteln” (Sat.1), “Schmeckt nicht,
gibt’s nicht” (VOX)) as well as a weekly programme (“Top of the Pops” (RTL)) and two
fiction series (“Die Sitte” (RTL), “Typisch Sophie”* (Sat.1)) and is thus less dependent
on one-off events ( *in co-production with Constantin Entertainment GmbH).
While the established serial formats were in part even able to increase their market
share in 2004, the reality format under the programme title “Kämpf um Deine Frau”
[“Fight for your wife”] did not meet expectations. It was possible to completely produce
and deliver the commissioned programme to Sat.1, but not to meet the viewer
rating expected. As a result the format will not be continued.
