ALUMNI NEWS
Calling all alumni! Do you have news that you would like
to share with classmates? We are in the process of writing this
school year’s edition of the Alumni News. News information
can be sent to bconsilvio@stcatherine.com. The Alumni News
is also in need of class representatives who would gather news
for their appropriate graduation years, 50’s, 60’s, etc. If you
would like to be a class representative use the listed email
address or call the school office at 301 946-1717. Please share
your accomplishments with the parish community. We’d like to
thank Susan Flickinger who volunteered to coordinate the news

SCIENCE FAIR
We congratulate all our sixth, seventh, and eighth graders
who participated in this year’s science fair. The projects were
very impressive. The winners are: 8 th Grade 1 st Place:
McCaulely Peters, 2 nd Place: Nia Johnson and Brenna Ebner,
and 3 rd Place Emily Navarro and Elizabeth Kaniecki;
7 th Grade First Place: Juan Morales, Second Place: Patrick
Diaz, Fernando Cabrera, and Matthew Lopez, Third Place:
Emma Rainard and Catherine Estrada, Honorable Mention:
Alex Nguyen and Grant LaChat, and Sabrina Yescas, Mahlet
Traore, and Sadie Montoya; 6 th Grade First Place: Andy Hall
and Jonathan Gonzales, Second Place: Bianca Dominguez,
Alejandra Ramirez, and Alexia Camacho, and Third Place:
Kayla Hunt, Mark Villegas, Caitlin Sarno, and Aideen Hwang.
Winners will now advance to county competition.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS CONTEST
We congratulate all the students who participated in the
Knights of Columbus (St. Joseph Manyanet Council #5567)
“Keep Christ in Christmas” Poster Contest. The winners are:
7 th -8 th Grade Category – 1 st Place-Fernando Cabrera, 2 nd Place-
Catherine Estrade, 3 rd Place-Emma Rainard; 4 th -6 th Grade
Category: 1 st Place-Roberto Tan, 2 nd Place-Katie Dunphy, 3 rd
Place-Daniel Weeden; and the 1 st -3 rd Grade Category: 1 st
Place-Katie Manning, 2 nd Place-Taramary Anders, and 3 rd
Place-Zoe DeArmas.
All first place winners, Fernando Cabrera, Roberto Tan, and
Katie Manning will advance to state level competition. Each
participant received a sticker and a bag of M & M’s. Good
work!

GET PREPARED FOR LOBBY NIGHT 2012
Back by popular demand, the Issues Briefings in
preparation for Lobby Night will be held on Saturday,
January 28 for Montgomery and Prince George's counties,
from 8:30 am to Noon, in the St. Matthias School
Cafeteria (9475 Annapolis Road, MD 20706).
