2012 CARDINAL’S APPEAL BEINGS
“SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD” (MATTHEW 6:33)
Many of our parishioners have received a mailing this
week from Cardinal Wuerl. He has asked that you make a
pledge to the 2012 Cardinal’s Appeal.
The Appeal not only funds the operations of the archdiocese,
it funds services that are of great help to the ministries
here in our parish.
This year, the theme of the Appeal is, “ Seek first the
kingdom of God.” (Matthew 6:33) As we seek first the
kingdom of God, we have the capability of helping it to be
present in our lives and in the lives of those around us. How
does this happen? Through our works of charity, our works
of love, our works of compassion. Contributions to the Cardinal's
Appeal offer each of use the opportunity to respond
to the needs of others by enabling ministries and services
that touch thousands of lives.
Please prayerfully consider a generous pledge to the 201
Cardinal’s Appeal.

Adult and Family Rally and Mass for Life. Join us at The
Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle on the morning of the
March for Life, January 23, 2012. The Rally kicks off at
9:00am, Mass begins at 10:00am, and departure for the
National March for Life is at 11:30am. Registration is

Muchos de nuestros feligreses han recibido un envío por correo,
esta semana, de parte del Cardenal Wuerl, donde se les pide que
asuman un compromiso de contribución a la Campaña del Cardenal
2012.
La Campaña no solo respalda financieramente las operaciones de
la Arquidiócesis, sino también servicios que son de gran ayuda
para los ministerios de nuestra parroquia. [
Este año, el lema de la Campaña es: “Busquen primero el reino
de Dios” (Mateo 6, 33).
Mientras buscamos primero el reino de Dios, tenemos la

REFLEXIONES DE LAS LECTURAS
Nuestra Herencia de la verdad
Primera Lectura: Moisés fué un profeta, esto es, una
persona escogida por Dios para hablar en Su nombre.
Moisés le dice a la gente que Dios continuará suscitando
profetas para guiar a Su pueblo. Todos estos profetas serán
símbolo de Jesucristo, “el Profeta”, que entregará, de una
vez para siempre, la palabra definitiva de Dios. El será, en
verdad, la Palabra de Dios encarnada.
Segunda Lectura: En esta lectura, San Pablo no está
preocupado por degradar (o disminuir) el matrimonio, sino
por subrayar el significado religioso del celibato. Lo que
está diciendo es que el celibato religioso entraña, tanto
como promueve, una manera particular de amar a Dios,
exclusivamente y sin la mediación del matrimonio. El
celibato religioso implica estar enamorado de Dios, de esa
manera.
Evangelio: El Evangelio de este domingo enfatiza la
autoridad de las palabras y enseñanzas de Jesús. Esto era
de máxima importancia y preocupación en los evangelistas:
transmitir en los Evangelios no sólo las enseñanzas de
Jesús, sino también el porqué su enseñanza es la verdad
absoluta y debe ser aceptada como mandato para la
felicidad y salvación humanas. La razón principal, por
supuesto, es que Cristo es Dios, la Palabra de Dios hecha
carne. Sus palabras son las de Dios; las únicas que pueden
mandar nuestro futuro y nuestra vida: ellas coinciden con el
destino humano y su liberación total. Y la autoridad divina
de Jesús será subrayada una y otra vez en los Evangelios,
aun por medio de milagros y por su dominio sobre la
creación material y espiritual. En cuanto a nosotros, lo más
importante es que recordemos que esta autoridad de Jesús
le fue transmitida a la Iglesia, y que habita hoy en la
Iglesia. No podemos oír las palabras personales de Cristo.
Pero podemos escuchar a Su Iglesia, quien, bajo la
protección del Espíritu de Cristo, nos enseña la verdad, el
camino y la vida en cuanto a la religión y los valores
humanos totales. En las palabras de Jesús: “Quien a
ustedes escucha (la Iglesia) a Mí me escucha”.

Los Misioneros Laicos Franciscanos les invita a una
noche de evangelización con el lema “Dios uniendo familias
con su amor” el día Sábado 18 de Febrero a las
7:00 pm en el Salón Claridge. La donación sera de
$10.00. Esta es una oportunidad para inviter a nuestro
Señor Jesucristo a que tome el control de toda su familia.
Los Misioneros Laicos

todo tipo de abrigos (de preferencia
para hombres), para llevarselos a
todos aquellos que necesitan.
Comenzarán la próxima semana.
Ayúdenos a continuar con esta
maravillosa mission. Los
Misioneros estarán recogiendo los
abrigos y dando más información en el vestibulo de la
iglesia. Les expresamos nuestro agradecimiento por su

NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA ALTAGRACIA
-24 AÑOS DE CELEBRACION-
Una vez más, continuando la tradición de 24 años consecutivos,
celebraremos en nuestra comunidad de Santa Catalina Labouré la
Fiesta de NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA ALTAGRACIA,
Protectora de la República Dominicana. Seremos honrados con la
visita de Monseñor Rafael Felipe Núñez, Obispo de la Diócesis
de Barahona, República Dominicana, quien celebrará la Misa y el
Rev. Luis A. Marroquín, Vicario Parroquial de SCL, quien
concelebrará la Misa solemne en honor a la Santísima Virgen de
la Altagracia, el Domingo 29 de enero, 2012, a la 12:30 PM.
Antes de la Misa, iniciaremos la celebración con el Santo Rosario
en honor a la Santísima Virgen en el Salón Russell a las
11:30 AM, continuando en procesión hacia la iglesia.
Este año la festividad se enfocará en la parte espiritual, mediante
el rezo del Santo Rosario y la celebración de la Santa Misa, con la
finalidad primordial de aumentar la devoción a nuestra Madre
María Santísima de la Altagracia, en el Área Metropolitana de
Washington.
En esta ocasión, NO tendremos el acostumbrado almuerzo
típico dominicano ni el evento social que se celebraba después
de la Misa en el Salón Claridge.
Invitamos a la comunidad dominicana y a nuestros hermanos
hispanos para que nos acompañen en estas actividades, uniéndose
a nuestro júbilo, al celebrar el vigésimo cuarto aniversario de la
fiesta a la Virgen de la Altagracia, en nuestra parroquia.

encuentro Matrimonial Mundial. Así como las plantas

necesitan momentos de reencuentro para renovar y hacer

El fn de Semana del Encuentro Matrimonial es una
experiencia muy enriquecedora para todo matrimonio.
