Rebuilt, Reconstructed or Homemade Vehicles:<br />

The assigned VIN tag must be located in a position where it can be easily<br />

read. The type and rigidity <strong>of</strong> the material should be considered. All tags<br />

should be on an outside surface which is smooth and clean. The tag should<br />

be right side up, if possible, and away from a place where it will experience<br />

any kind <strong>of</strong> wear.<br />

LOST PLATE<br />

Whenever a registration plate has been lost, damaged, worn or faded to the extent that<br />

it is not plainly legible, the vehicle cannot be inspected until the following is completed:<br />

1. Collect fee for duplicate plate.<br />

2. Submit fee and request for replacement plate to the <strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong> Motor Vehicles.<br />

REPLACEMENT FORMS<br />

1. The duplicate registration form (TA-VL-15) can be obtained from the <strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

Motor Vehicles via the submission <strong>of</strong> a Stockroom Order Form. Order forms can be<br />

obtained by calling (802) 828-2090.<br />

2. Lost registration plate forms (TA-VD-16) can be obtained from the <strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

Motor Vehicles via the submission <strong>of</strong> a Stockroom Order Form. Order forms can be<br />

obtained by calling (802) 828-2090.<br />

MANDATORY INSURANCE<br />

<strong>Vermont</strong> is a mandatory insurance state. Refer to Section 1 ~ Registration and<br />

Insurance.<br />
