SECTION 7 – LIGHTING AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS<br />
All headlamps must be <strong>of</strong> an approved type.<br />
HEADLAMP TESTING<br />
Beams may be inspected for specific aim by using one <strong>of</strong> the following methods, if<br />
deemed necessary:<br />
Approved screen, placed twenty-five feet (25’) in front <strong>of</strong> the headlamp.<br />
Approved photoelectric testing machine that will give essentially equivalent results.<br />
Procedure:<br />
1. Check for proper inflation <strong>of</strong> tires.<br />
2. Rock cycle to free and equalize suspension.<br />
3. Aim with rider in the saddle.<br />
4. Clean lenses, check for burned out and correct bulbs, proper wiring and switches.<br />
5. Check headlamp approval; one (1) lamp is required; not more than two (2) are<br />
permitted.<br />
Procedure:<br />
HEADLAMP ADJUSTMENT<br />
Adjust headlamp until hot spot on high beam is aimed straight ahead and dropped the<br />
following distance in twenty-five feet (25’):<br />
Single and double filament lamp – Two inch (2”) drop in twenty-five feet (25’).<br />
All headlamps shall show a clear white light and no colored headlamp lens shall be<br />
permitted.<br />
Beam indicators or Tell-tales are required on all motor vehicles originally designed<br />
with a beam indicator or telltale as an integral part <strong>of</strong> the lighting system.<br />
