Origin of name Suburb Additional information See Source Further information Formerly Crescent Road and North Crescent Road. Named because of the bend in the road. Re-named Trafalgar Street. Named after Admiral Nelson’s naval victory at the Battle of Trafalgar. St Albans Crescent Road is first mentioned in the Star in 1873 in an advertisement. First appears in street directories in 1887. Re-named North Crescent Road on 7 March 1904- 1909. Re-named Trafalgar Street in 1909 at the suggestion of Councillor Williams.
