Tapper Street Origin of name Suburb Additional information See Source Further information Named after Charles John Tapper (1897- 1986). Parklands In the first stage of the subdivision of the land adjacent to Burwood Hospital. The Community Board had requested Māori street names. Developed by the Ngai Tahu Property Group. Name approved in 2000. Hornby Tapper was a bank clerk of South Dunedin. He graduated from the Canterbury Flying School on 2 March 1918. In the Wigram Aerodrome subdivision by Ngai Tahu Property Ltd where the names of the streets are those of the original first 100 students at the Flight School established by Sir Henry Wigram in 1917. Named in 2010. Riccarton First appears in street directories in 1943. Addington Elliott Street first appears in street directories in 1905. Re-named Taramea Street in 1908. Becomes Taramea Place in 1983. Burwood Continues the aviation theme of streets in the area. First appears in street directories in 1968.
