in 1911.<br />
Formed on land subdivided<br />
off Fendalton Road by James<br />
McCombs (1873-1933) who<br />
was a resident of the <strong>street</strong> in<br />
1911. He was born in<br />
Ireland, hence the original<br />
Irish <strong>street</strong> name. He was<br />
later involved in land<br />
speculation in <strong>Christchurch</strong>.<br />
Tui Street is first mentioned<br />
in The Press in 1915 when a<br />
property on the corner of Tui<br />
Street and Weka Road is<br />
advertised for sale.<br />
