CHORAL MUSIC<br />

Purpose: The purpose of the Choral Department is <strong>to</strong> promote enthusiasm and interest in vocal<br />

music.<br />

General Inform<strong>at</strong>ion: There are five choirs in the department, including the Honors Choir,<br />

Honors Concert Mixed, Women’s and Men’s Choirs. Placement in the Honors Choir and Mixed<br />

is by approval of the direc<strong>to</strong>r.<br />

<strong>Activities</strong>: District, Region, Area, and St<strong>at</strong>e auditions sponsored by the Texas Music Educ<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

Associ<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

U.I.L. solo ensemble contest as well as concert and sight reading contest<br />

<strong>School</strong> Concerts<br />

A spring trip is usually scheduled<br />

Additional Inform<strong>at</strong>ion: Extra practice is required for performances <strong>at</strong> the discretion of the<br />

direc<strong>to</strong>r. Costumes for concerts are issued in the beginning of the school year and must be kept<br />

in excellent condition and dry cleaned <strong>at</strong> the student's expense.<br />
