a viable diversification opportunity, helping maintain the viability of a significant
local business. When the landowner payments are combined with local authority
rates, community benefit payments and other ongoing site maintenance expenses,
this project would represent a substantial long term investment in the local area.
Overall the economic impacts from this development are considered to be positive
which will result in a demand for local services during the construction phase.
No adverse impacts are predicted on local recreation and tourist interests.
3.3 Ecology/Fauna
The potential effects of the proposed wind turbine on the nature conservation
interests on and around the proposed site were considered and an assessment of
significance was made based on field work undertaken.
The scope of this Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) was derived from preliminary
investigations of the site, knowledge of the issues affecting the site, and an
understanding of the potential for nature conservation receptors to be significantly
affected. Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) was consulted to review the proposed
methodology for assessing ecological issues. The assessment carried out include
habitat, breeding birds, geese, bats, and mammals.
