Mr Foley,
The site of the application is located within an area allocated for
business and industry in the adopted Renfrewshire Local Plan. Policy IB2
applies which presumes in favour of Class 4, 5 and 6 uses and safeguards
such sites for these uses. I therefore do not think that the proposed use
is acceptable in principle. Any application for the proposal would have
to be accompanied by a case which is made using the provisions of Policy
10 of the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Structure Plan. Development proposals
should also meet the criteria contained in Panel IB1. The policy and
panel can be viewed on the Council's website.
On a more speculative note, the proximity of the premises to other users
at the business park would be a cause for concern if the use produces
smoke and/or flames. The site is also located close to one of the flight
paths into/out of glasgow airport. The views of BAA would be sought on
the proposals. It may be worthwhile contacting Environmental Services
(officer: Thomas Stirling tel 0141 840 3485) for an initial view on the
proposals.

We at Babcock are considering taking a lease at a property in Imperial Park
Linwood to provide fire fighting training to our clients, I have spoken
with your Mrs K Dean at the duty planning desk and she asked that we send
in our proposals for you consideration/comments prior to a formal
submission.
Please see attached drawings for your perusal/comments, the fire fighting
training unit will be located externally within the yard however I have
provided the drawing for your information. If you require any further
