CULWAY II
CULWAY II is a two-lane, high speed weigh-in-motion (WIM)
system that uses sensors installed within a box culvert to
unobtrusively monitor traffic. It can accurately collect volume,
speed, classification and mass data.
DATA USE
• Pavement design, management and
performance monitoring
Screening for enforcement applications
Tolling applications
Regulations, development of policy and standards
Strategic freight movement analysis and information for
the transport industry
Freight statistics – seasonal trends
Pavement loading information including axle loads,
axle group loads and axle spacing
Development of road safety strategies
Review of road maintenance contract performance
Real-time traffic information
TR recommends that users satisfy themselves that the device will
meet their requirements before purchase.
MAIN FUNCTIONS
Measures and records up to two lanes of CULWAY
weigh-in-motion data
The new CULWAY II logger can be used as a direct
replacement for an existing CULWAY logger unit
BENEFITS
CULWAY II Specifications*
Item Specification Comment
Increased storage capacity, lower power consumption
and the ability to remotely upgrade logger firmware
Powerful processing and expansion capabilities which, in
future versions, will provide integrated value-added
processes such as over-height detection, vehicle tag
identification, variable message sign outputs and video
detection inputs
With the CULWAY II logger, WIM users can maintain
or update their existing systems or deploy new sites
with confidence that they have access to the latest
technology
