AUSTRALIAN CLAY TARGET NEWS- JUNE <strong>1990</strong><br />
Medals for events held on Sunday were presented to shooters<br />

Our next major shoot is our Crayfish Carnival on July 28th-29th<br />
featuring 25Pr Commonwealth Double Rise Championship and 40<br />
State Mixed <strong>Target</strong> Championship and Crayfish<br />
The City of Geraldton hosted the <strong>1990</strong> Mid-West Games. with<br />
approximately 3000 competitors from 18 shires in 41 nominated<br />
sports taking part. Competitors came from all parts of the Mid-<br />
West Region, ranging from the Wiiuna Shire in the north to the<br />

Coorow Shire in the south.<br />
The Games are run along similar lines to the Olympic and<br />
Commonwealth Games with the shnes, in effect representing the<br />
various countries. Competitors then compete for gold, silver and<br />
bronze medals m !nd!vidual and team events depending upon the<br />
sport involved.<br />
The Geraldton Gun Club hosted a six-event <strong>Clay</strong> <strong>Target</strong> programme<br />
over two days with shooters coming from the Northampton,<br />
Muliewa. Greenough and Geraldton Shires.<br />
Saturday April 21.51 saw 18 shooters competing in the two events<br />
scheduled<br />
The first event was SO <strong>Target</strong> Skeet with B. Chandler shooting<br />
SO/SO which gave him the gold medal m A Grade, D. Hilsz won<br />
gold in B Grade with 48 and G. Cammock winning gold in C Grade<br />
with 45/50.<br />
The second event was a 50 <strong>Target</strong> Skeet Teams event, with competitors<br />
nominating their &man team. This was won by B. Chandler<br />
47/50, D. Hilsz 47/50 and S. Horo 44/50 with a combined score of<br />
138/150 which gave them all a gold medal. The silver was won by<br />
the team consisting of D. Wellington, R. Burton and G. Cammock<br />
with a combined score of 126/150 and the bronze went to G. Kelly,<br />
E. Daw and P. Stuart with 120/150 after a shoot-oif with L. Watson,<br />
G. Wulff and F. Bombara.<br />
Sunday April 22nd saw 27 shooters competing in the four events<br />
scheduled<br />

was. Under court supervision, ticket No. 60 owned by Maryborough<br />
shooter and a good worker of the club, Darrel Kkng was<br />
the owner of the Beretta 682 Trap Gun. Good shooting in the future<br />
with it Darrel . you can't blame the gun anymore. Second prize<br />
of a case of ammo went to ticket No. 66 owned by Mrs Thelma<br />
Meadows of Brisbane and another good worker for her club. Congratulations<br />
Thelma and thanks for supporting us, and don't let<br />
Tom pinch any of them.<br />
The Brisbane/Gymp~e Australia Day Police Charity Shoot<br />
resulted in $400 going to Leukaemia Foundation and $400 to Brain<br />
Damage Foundation. Thanks once again to the police who<br />
travelled and gave their time to work for charity.<br />
Our Timber City One-Day Shoot had an attendance of 42<br />
shooters from all over the State with Victorian Bill Bright of<br />
Numurkah competing also. High Guns on the day went to R.<br />
Rehbem (A Grade). B. Stoilberg (B Grade) and B. Bnght (C Grade).<br />
The third event was 25 <strong>Target</strong> Single Barrel with gold in A Grade<br />
going to B. Boschetti with 20/25. gold in B Grade to G. Kelly with<br />
21/25 and gold in C Grade to G. Cammock 23/25.<br />

The fourth event was 25 Taraet Double Barrel Points w~th S. Horo<br />
wlnning gold in A Grade with?3/75, G Kelly wlth gold in B Grade<br />
with 72/75 and G Cammock wilh gold in C Grade with 67/75<br />
The fifth event was 25 <strong>Target</strong> Double Barrel with M. Watson<br />
23/25 gaining gold in A Grade, T. Harris 25/25 and N. Milligan<br />
21/25 getting gold in B and C Grades respectively.<br />

and for his good shooting he now has a 'B' after his name. Good<br />

Neil Berry also had a good day taking A Grade 251 Pts. 2025m<br />
Handicap and OA High Gun.<br />
11/3/90 at Gympie saw high scores being the norm of the day as<br />
Rod Felt earned another metre as well as the AA High Gun<br />
honours of the day. G. Dixon look A Grade High Gun, A. Wood<br />
featuring in every event took the B Grade and J. Wilson C Grade<br />
honours.<br />
The Skeet Hiah Gun sash was won bv B. Chandler with 97/100<br />
who found himse!f elevaled lo AA (no! ~icoholrs Anonymous) for<br />
his eiioris ano r~nner-up in this seciion vras D Hilsz w.ih 95/ 100<br />
The Trap High Gun sash was won by G. Kelly 125/145 after a<br />
shoot-off with T. Harris, both from B Grade.<br />
Visitor P. Simon. President af Malura Park Gun Club in Canberra<br />
shot 75/76 to take AA Grade and push Ken Stevens to 76/76<br />
to win the Overall in the "Cooloola Classic" DB event, the malor on<br />
the day.<br />

The Overall High Gun sash for the two days was won by A<br />
Grade's S. Horo with 211/245 and runner-up was J. Griffiths with<br />
Lost Bird<br />
210/245 in B Grade.<br />
Other notable performances and statistics from the shoot were<br />
those of Gordon Cammock who won a medal in every event, he<br />
ended up with three gold, two silver and one bronze. VALE - J.J. (MICK) HEHlR<br />
Bert Boschell! nominated for four events and won a medal in<br />
each of them end:ng up w1.h lwo gold one silver and one bronze<br />
Steve Horo showed you 6id no! have lo win all events LO vrin the<br />
Overall Sash, en61?g up u.~ih !,NO gold and one silver<br />
The same could be said of John Griffiths who only won one gold<br />
and one silver in B Grade<br />
Passed away February <strong>1990</strong>. Mick was a highly regarded<br />
member of the Geelong Club for 27 years. He was a tireless<br />
worker m the development of the Clubrooms and trap machinery,<br />
Past Treasurer. President and Committee member. Mick<br />
achieved State Team selection at Skeet and was always in the forefront<br />
in Skeet and Tower at Club and District level.<br />
Vince Oliveri improved all day - gaining a bronze in the fourth,<br />
a silver in the fifth, a gold in the last event after a shoot-off with G.<br />
Cammock<br />
We shooters will miss Mick's cheerful countenance and willingness<br />
to help out at every level of Club activities Our deepest<br />
sympathy to Vera and family.<br />
