ESPERANCE BAY<br />

GUN CLUB INC.<br />

The Esperance Bay Gun Club conducted its 28th successful<br />

Easter Carnival on the weekend and 60 shooters came from as far<br />

as Koolan Island to compete for $7000 worth of trophies. As usual<br />

the Goldfields clubs were in strong attendance. Esperance has<br />

become known for its hosoitalitv over the vears and this vear was<br />

no exception with good shooting, good meals and good entertain-<br />

ment after the shoot.<br />

The competitions started on the Friday with:<br />

Event 1 - M.S.D. Graded. 25 targets from 15 meires:<br />

1st A Grade Ray Hawke Kalgoorlie<br />

1st B Grade Damien Neale Esperance<br />

1st C Grade George Hanson Salmon Gums<br />

Event 2 - District Double Barrel Points Championship. 25<br />

targets from 15 metres. Sponsored by Esperance Applrance<br />

Centre. -<br />

1st A Grade and Overall Jim Neve Kalgoorlie<br />

1st B Grade Damien Neale Esperance<br />

1st C Grade Mark McDonald Perth<br />

Saturday's programme started with Event 3, the District Double<br />

Barrel Championship of 25 targets from 15 metres and was sponsored<br />

by Coxall Housing. In this event there were eight shooters<br />

with a perfect 25/25 score and there were several shoot-offs to<br />

decide the olacinas.<br />

Eveni 4 was sponsored by the Bustness House oi Esperance and<br />

consisted of 40 Mrxed <strong>Target</strong>s all off 15 metres There were I0<br />

Double Barrel, 10 Slngle Barrel. 10 Potnts Score and 5 palr of<br />

Double Rise giving a total score of 60 points. Scores were good<br />

with three shooters achieving 58/60.<br />

The last event for Saturday was the State Deauville Doubles<br />

Championship of 20 pair from 22 metres. Esperance Glass Service<br />

were the soonsors for this Cham~ionshi~.<br />

Sunday, the District Single Barrel, being 25 targets from 15 metres.<br />

competitor at the Easter Carnival.<br />

The Club management would like to express their thanks to the<br />

ladies who provided top meals all weekend and to the many<br />

people in the town who contributed donations and trophies to the<br />

Club. Without the11 support local clubs could never host State<br />

Titles. It has proved the point again that Esperance is a generous<br />

town and a great place to live.<br />
