BIG SKY – If you build it, they will
come.
As improvements continue on the
Big Sky Community Park increase
so does the number of park visitors
and recreationalists.
Thanks to generous private donors,
businesses, volunteers and the Big
Sky Resort Tax, improvements in
the park have come a long way. The
park improvements in the past two
years have included construction of
two softball fields, a multiuse field,
connecting trails, basketball court,
resurfaced tennis courts and a paved
parking lot.
Operating and maintenance funding
requested for park improvement has
been funded by the Big Sky Resort
Area District. Maintaining trails
and restrooms, mowing the fields
and keeping the park clean and
safe are some of the improvements
made.
Work on the climbing boulders is
to begin before the end of June. For
that project, BSCC partnered with
the Rotary Club of Big Sky, which
funded $35,000 for the project.
Construction on the 6,800 sq. foot
Skate Park has been set for July 16,
after the project received $150,000
in combined funding from Yellowstone
Club Community Foundation,
Montana Tourism Infrastructure,
Resort Tax and BSCC’s own
funding pool.
Softball is also in full swing this
summer, with double headers three
nights a week. The new dugouts,
donated by Lone Peak Builders,
should be completed by the end of
June.
Tuesday night ultimate Frisbee
league and a Wednesday night soccer
league have kept things busy
and active in the park throughout
and trails projects.
The nonprofit Big Sky Community
Corp. was created in 1998 to
promote, acquire, preserve and
maintain land, parks, trails and
Big Sky community and the general
a weekend in Yellowstone paradise
silver tip ranch, sept. 8-11, 2012
golden light, shimmering aspen, abundant wildlife
and quiet streams are all part of yellowstone's
magic in autumn. Few areas of the park are as
spectacular in the fall as the serpentine slough
Creek and its fabled meadows. and just beyond
the third meadow and the park boundary is a
privately owned refuge—silver tip ranch.
Fish slough Creek, explore the trails on foot or
horseback, or relax at the lodge. at day’s end, enjoy
a hearty, home-cooked dinner served familystyle
and presentations by yellowstone experts.
access to this classic western lodge is by horsedrawn
wagon, or by hiking 11 miles through a remote,
pristine part of the park. accommodations
are elegant and rustic. lunches are served on the screened in porch or provided as a picnic to go
with guided rides or fishing trips.
place,” said nina Jaeger from yPF. hopefully spending time there will inspire stewardship and involvement
with protecting and preserving yellowstone and the ecosystem as a whole.”
