As improvements continue on <strong>the</strong> <strong>Big</strong> <strong>Sky</strong> Community Park increase so does <strong>the</strong> number of park visitors and recreationalists. Thanks to generous private donors, businesses, volunteers and <strong>the</strong> <strong>Big</strong> <strong>Sky</strong> Resort Tax, improvements in <strong>the</strong> park have come a long way. The park improvements in <strong>the</strong> past two years have included construction of two softball fields, a multiuse field, connecting trails, basketball court, resurfaced tennis courts and a paved parking lot. Operating and maintenance funding requested for park improvement has been funded by <strong>the</strong> <strong>Big</strong> <strong>Sky</strong> Resort Area District. Maintaining trails and restrooms, mowing <strong>the</strong> fields and keeping <strong>the</strong> park clean and safe are some of <strong>the</strong> improvements made. Work on <strong>the</strong> climbing boulders is to begin before <strong>the</strong> end of June. For that project, BSCC partnered with <strong>the</strong> Rotary Club of <strong>Big</strong> <strong>Sky</strong>, which funded $35,000 for <strong>the</strong> project. Construction on <strong>the</strong> 6,800 sq. foot Skate Park has been set for July 16, after <strong>the</strong> project received $150,000 in combined funding from Yellowstone Club Community Foundation, Montana Tourism Infrastructure, Resort Tax and BSCC’s own funding pool. explorebigsky.com Softball is also in full swing this summer, with double headers three nights a week. The new dugouts, donated by Lone Peak Builders, should be completed by <strong>the</strong> end of June. The event will include a live and silent auction, dinner and dancing, with a goal to raise $100,000. Proceeds will go toward expansion and completion of <strong>the</strong> Community Park, building new trails, and development of future parks and trails projects. Auction items include a stay at Silver Tip Ranch in Yellowstone National Park, donated by Yellowstone Park Foundation; a weeklong visit to Casa San Marco Cortona, Italy and a weeklong visit to Villa Paradiso, Bali, both donated by Stacey and Rob Mattraw; a stay and golf package at Pronghorn Club and Resort in Bend, Ore, donated by Pronghorn Club; and a two-day bird hunting trip in north-central Montana, donated by Jill and Loren Bough.
