CONTRACT BRIDGE Jim Chee Xian<br />

Premier Bride League 2010<br />

This year, CSC kicked off The Premier Bridge League 2010’s opening game on 14 March 2010 at the Multi-purpose Room. A total<br />

of nine teams battled for the Kan Ming Kwong Challenge trophy.<br />

After nine rounds of league games, Keppel <strong>Club</strong> emerged champion with The Tanglin <strong>Club</strong>, Singapore Island Country <strong>Club</strong> and<br />

Kampong Kembangan Bridge <strong>Club</strong> following behind. Mrs Kan Ming Kwong was invited as the Guest-of-Honour to the Grand Finale<br />

at Keppel <strong>Club</strong> on 27 June 2010 and presented the trophy to the winning team.<br />

Although CSC was unable to retain the title, it had gained more with new and less experienced players being selected in<br />

this tournament to gain more exposure and experience. The CSC Contract Bridge Sub-Committee would like to extend<br />

their appreciation to Mr Murli Vasanmal and Mr Wong Kian Hong for their generous sponsorships for this year’s Premier<br />

Bridge League.<br />

In addition, the Sub-Committee would like to thank Mrs Kan Ming Kwong and her family for their constant support of the Premier<br />

Bridge League for the past years. Here are the results:<br />

<strong>Swimming</strong> <strong>Club</strong><br />

Singapore <strong>Swimming</strong> <strong>Club</strong> kindly invited our Tennis Section<br />

for a friendly match on 15 May 2010. 16 players from each club<br />

competed in 10 doubles matches and our <strong>Club</strong> just edged the host<br />

59 – 39 in total points. The gracious host then treated our players<br />

to a scrumptious dinner and their signature Mee Siam!<br />

This year’s competition saw three teams from the <strong>Club</strong> participating in the Kliny, Chan Ah Kow and Martha Young Cup. The Chan<br />

team, led by Koh Chee Hua came closest to silverware, but lost in the Semi-finals to Keppel <strong>Club</strong>.<br />

This is the third straight year that our <strong>Club</strong> was selected by Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) to be the official practice<br />

venue for the international participants of the Singapore’s premier badminton tournament.<br />

Other than being able to watch top shuttlers in action up close, the <strong>Club</strong> had also gained worldwide recognition with a full-page<br />

advertisement in the tournament’s official magazine distributed to all the players and supporters.<br />
