Full Day Tour I: Green Ruhr Valley, Castles, Half-timbered Towns and Legends
9:30 Departure to a tour of Essen South and the Ruhr valley.
The tour goes past the Aalto Theatre, the Philharmonia and the Gruga Hall,
to the historical old town of Essen Werden.
10:00 Visit to the Werden abbey church with a guided tour through the church
of “St. Ludgerus” and the treasure chamber.
11:15 The trip continues towards Hattingen
On the way you will see the Baldeney Lake, Altendorf Castle and the
Castle Ruins of Isenburg, which came to fame through the historical murder
of 1225.
12:00 Visit to the Hattingen old town / Short tour through the historical old
town of Hattingen with its half-timbered houses.
13:30 – 15:00 Short drive onwards to the Henrichshütte LWL Museum
Lunch at “Heinrich’s” restaurant.
15:00 – 16:30 Followed by visit to the “Heroes” exhibition at the Henrichshütte Museum
Approx. 16:30 Return to Intercity Hotel (central station)
Services: Bus and tour guide provided for the duration of the event, entrance to and guided tour of the
treasure chamber and abbey church of St. Ludgerus, entrance to the “Heroes” exhibition at the Henrichs-
hütte Museum, lunch at Henrich’s restaurant, guided tour of Hattingen’s historic old town.
