In Decem.ber L877, Fat'her Charles l{anue}
was assi-gned to flJ.iopolis and remeined there
for twenty-four years, until his death in
190f. During his pastorate, the congregation
was divided, a ne'w parish was formed and in
1890 a church rvas erected at l{iantic.
Father I',[anue]- also organized parishes and
built churches at iSuffalo and Riverton. He
also built a two story structrrre as a rectory
adjoining the church ln IIliopolis, and
secured additional lots to the 'rvest. ilere in
1895, the present church was begun and
completed and on rihitsunday 1896 it was
dedicated. In the neantim.e, Father Manuel
becane ill, and the nelvly ordained tr'ather
