and both he and his wife were members <strong>of</strong> the Presbyterian church<br />

<strong>of</strong> Uixon from its organization until they were called to their<br />

final rest. They were e\-er loyal to its teachings and contributed<br />

generously to its support. Both have now passed away.<br />

Dr. McWethy supplemented his cummun-school education by<br />

a course ru the Steinmann Institute and then in preparation for<br />

a pr<strong>of</strong>essional career entered the Northwestern University as a<br />

dental student and was graduated in 1899 He practiced in Chi-<br />

cago for a short time and afterward removed to Ashtou, <strong>Illinois</strong>,<br />

where he remained until March, 1909, when he came to Dixon<br />

and opened an <strong>of</strong>fice. He has a pleasant suite <strong>of</strong> rooms well appointed<br />

in all <strong>of</strong> the equipments necessary for the practice <strong>of</strong><br />

dentistry according to the most modern and progressive metliods.<br />

He keeps in touch with the advancement that is being continually<br />

made in the pr<strong>of</strong>ession and he possesses the mechanical skill and<br />

ingenuity as well as the scientific knowledge which must go hand<br />

in hand with business ability in order that a dentist may win<br />

success.<br />

In 1900 Dr. McWethy was married to Miss Bertha L. Hubbard,<br />

a native <strong>of</strong> Dixon and a daughter <strong>of</strong> M. D. Hubbard, who<br />

was one <strong>of</strong> the early settlers <strong>of</strong> the coimt,y, having been brought<br />

by his parents to this section <strong>of</strong> the state in his infancy. Mr.<br />

Hubbard is now deceased. Unto Dr. and Mrs. McWethy has been<br />

born a son, Donald Sheldon. Politically Dr. McWethy is a pro-<br />

gressive republican and fraternally he is connected with the<br />

Masons, the Elks and the Woodmen. Both he and his wife hold<br />

membership in the Presbj'terian church and are interested and<br />

active in its work and liberal in its support. Their many sterling<br />

traits <strong>of</strong> heart and mind have gained them popularity and<br />

high regard and they have an extensive circle <strong>of</strong> friends in this<br />

city, in which tliey have spent practically their entire lives.<br />

CONRAD HETBENTHAL.<br />

Conrad Heibenthal owns a farm <strong>of</strong> one hundred and eightyseven<br />

acres on section 24, Ashton township, and is a worthy rep-<br />

resentative <strong>of</strong> agricultural interests <strong>of</strong> this locality, for he follows<br />

always the most progressive and practical methods and in the cul-<br />

tivation <strong>of</strong> his property has surrounded himself with a gratifying<br />

measure <strong>of</strong> success. He was born in Bradford township November
