AMERICAN FLAG DISPOSAL
As American flags become worn or damaged, it
becomes important for their disposal to be proper and
dignified. The City of Appleton has placed a container
at the Glendale Yard Site for residents to drop off
unserviceable American flags. The City of Appleton
will deliver the unserviceable flags to the American
Legion for proper disposal. Visit www.appleton.org
for additional information.
DISPOSING OF MERCURY
Exposure to releases of mercury into the environment has
been negatively linked to human and wildlife health. Mercury
should never be poured down a drain or sewer, flushed down
a toilet or thrown in the trash. Items containing mercury (e.g.,
thermometers and thermostats) should be taken to Hazardous
Waste Clean Sweep facilities for recycling.
