Monocoque space frame structure – Increases passenger safety, comfort & enhances
performance & lifecycle of key aggregates. Ease in repairing & servicing a monocoque
structure.
Lower centre of gravity – Better on road stability.
Front-independent air suspension – Our buses come with a front-independent air
suspension which is very different from a normal air suspension. The front-independent
type suspension greatly reduces the swinging within the bus, and also minimizes the
impact on passengers when a single wheel runs on a pot-hole or a raised surface.
Wishbone Mounted rear air suspension – A single piece wishbone construction pivoted to
the spine at the rear of the bus helps in absorbing forces acting on the rear wheel during
operation better than regular rear air suspensions.
Higher power to weight ratio – One ton lighter, more fuel efficient, better payload
management.
Rear engine – reduces transmission loss, enhances comfort in passenger salon.
Low cost of spare parts and ease of maintenance – Highly cost effective.
Range of Floor Heights – City Bus – 900 mm, 740 mm, 650 mm (wider & stepless gangway
options available).
Range of engine horsepower -160, 245 HP & above.
Transmission options: Manual, AMT & Automatic.
Our Intercity buses boast of maximum luggage space which maximizes operator
revenues.
Our sleeper coaches have the widest gangway & ideal head clearance.
Corona City Buses are in-line with Urban Bus Specifications of JNNURM Scheme of
Management Development Programmes MDP
FROM THE DIRECTOR'S DESK
The need for developing managerial skills in an environment of widespread competition
cannot be over-emphasised. Constant exposure to management concepts and a continuous
exercise to blend them with experience are essential for the success and growth of business
enterprises. In the final analysis, it is the quality of management which will determine the
profitability, image and goodwill.
Over the years, CIRT has designed, developed and conducted management
development programmes on a variety of topics focussing on change, innovation and
productivity. This booklet contains the conventional programmes which are still relevant to the
management of transport. In addition, programmes related to new areas such as Depot
Networking & Real Time Passenger Information System, BRT and Current Trends in Vehicle &
Fuel Technologies are also being conducted this year.
We are sure that the STUs, in their effort to revitalise their management skills, will take
advantage of the programmes contained in this schedule. It is also hoped that other
organisations will equally benefit from these programmes. We are looking forward to a very
successful year of management development.
CIRT was established in 1967 on the joint initiative of the then Ministry of Shipping & Transport, Government of
India & the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings. The raison d'etre of CIRT is its commitment to
improve the efficiency & productivity of the transport sector, with particular emphasis to STUs.
The institute is located on the Pune-Nashik Highway, at Nashik-Phata, Bhosari on the outskirts of Pune City, i.e.,
within the adjoining Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation limits.
Pune city is well connected by domestic airlines, few international airlines & rail services. The institute is at a
distance of 13 kms from Pune railway station & 18 kms from Pune Airport.
Objectives
With the economic liberalisation, CIRT is expanding its activities to include both the public & the private sectors in
