loans The Flint Institute of Arts believes an effective way to enhance its reputation as an important cultural institution is to lend works of art from the permanent collection to other museums. Lending art promotes collegial relationships between museums, scholarships, and provides national and international audiences exposure to works of art from the FIA’s outstanding permanent collection. In addition, the FIA also borrows works from other museums and galleries to supplement the permanent collection and exhibitions. During the fiscal year 2008–2009, the FIA made loans to the following museums. 27
