Job Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and Supports<br />

Division <strong>of</strong> Rehabilitation Services (DORS) (100 E. Sa<strong>in</strong>ts St., Room 201, <strong>Frederick</strong>, MD<br />

21701) DORS is a state government agency that pays <strong>for</strong> job tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, work-related<br />

equipment, and other services <strong>for</strong> people <strong>with</strong> disabilities. Individuals need to schedule an<br />

<strong>in</strong>terview <strong>with</strong> a DORS representative to open a case, <strong>for</strong> students <strong>with</strong> an Individualized<br />

Educational Program this should be done <strong>for</strong> the students IEP meet<strong>in</strong>g when they turn 14<br />

years old. DORS can write up an employment plan <strong>with</strong> the <strong>in</strong>dividual, which may <strong>in</strong>clude job<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, education, job seek<strong>in</strong>g, transportation, etc.<br />

Several Agencies can test an <strong>in</strong>dividual’s work skills, tra<strong>in</strong> her/him <strong>for</strong> various jobs, and help<br />

her/him f<strong>in</strong>d a job. The <strong>in</strong>dividual must first open a case <strong>with</strong> DORS (see above), because<br />

DORS is usually the only resource to pay <strong>for</strong> these services.<br />
