RACING - A NEW ERA FOR NASCAR IN EUROPE<br />

A BIG FIGHT IN <strong>2013</strong> THE “ELITE” CLASS<br />

The Spanish driver Ander Vilarino, at the wheel<br />

of the #2 TFTBanco Santander Chevrolet SS dominated<br />

the first part of the season by winning 6<br />

consecutive races in Nogaro, Dijon and Brands<br />

Hatch.<br />

In July the series gifted thousands of spectators<br />

with 4 vibrant races, surrounded by the magic<br />

atmosphere of the Tours American Festival, not<br />

far from Paris. On the 600m halfbanked French<br />

oval the national hero Frederic Gabillon triumphed<br />

in both the two 100 laps races at the wheel<br />

of the Rapido Racing by Still Chevrolet Camaro.<br />

while Race 2 was run with the track in damp<br />

conditions and turned out to be one of the best<br />

NWES races ever, with 4 drivers fighting for<br />

the win until the last corner of the last lap. The<br />

young Swiss Yann Zimmer, who’s also leading<br />

the Junior Trophy standings, won his first ever<br />

NASCAR race in outstanding fashion, taking<br />

the checkered flag just ahead of Gabillon and<br />

Vilarino.
