The Green Island Premier team
played Varsity and were up against a
good team but with an effort from the
whole team we were well in the game
until a mistake in the back let Varsity
score five minutes before half time. The
second half we were still in there until
the last ten minutes when a bad
mistake gave away a penalty. Good
games from Sam in goals, Matt in the
back and MOTM Craig Buddle. Rod
Fleming.
The Thirds lost a hard fought game
0-2 down. It was pretty good until Gary
McBride had to come off and the whole
team fell apart. What can I say , well
you could blame it on the sun.
The big clash of the 4th league was
today Island versus Roslyn White and
our young boys showed we have learnt
a lot from the first round. A superb first
half performance left us 2-0 up with
Woodsie nailing a header and Dave
Milton scoring from the spot. Everybody did their part this week giving the complete
performance unfortunately we have picked up a few injuries so will see who fronts
up at training this week. The Roslyn Black team also had a loss so leaves us in
the awkward position at top of the league. Everybody gunning for us. Kahil
McQueen was dominant in the first half up front and has adjusted well to senior
football and deserved his man of the match. Graeme Darling
The Five Grade went to Caversham to meet the United Nations team. Very
skillful but couldn’t understand each other with different languages spoken. Given
the mix an unfortunate land dispute was always going to happen. Handbags flying,
swear words that we couldn’t understand resulted in yellow cards flying. yes!!!
yellow cards in the 5th grade. Win to us 3-1 Not bad for “Old B.....tards” according
to MOM Rangi - its our land.
The Oldies Green started with a minute silence for a Mosgiel member. The
boys started well holding out the pressure from Mosgiel, Their scoring started with
an own goal and two further goals before half Svale time. The second half was must the
same with Mosgiel playing good tidy football and our boys holding them out until
