Mikes seniors entertained Northern at Memorial and with parking space at a premium
in the car park Northern decided to park their team bus on the playing field in
anticipation of a roasting ala teams that visit other similar fortresses-Old Trafford and
Easter Road being two that spring to mind.
With Phil being rested we took to Northern with plenty of attack minded and wide
playing midfielders but with no real goal sniffer, our play was excellent to watch with
lots of short passes interspersed with long pin point cross field balls that had Northern
chasing shadows most of the match.
With Steve and Luke interchanging with Morgan & Jordan - Northern never knew
who to pick up, and add Abbo bobbing up and down the right we were constantly
knocking on the door.
unselfishlessly tapped it back to big Tom who met it with a crashing side foot volley
from 4 yards out. With time nearly up Jordan picked up the ball on the left and
ran and ran and
unleashed a rasping
drive from 20 yards out
that bulged the back of
the net for a final score
of 2-0 to the good guys
Andys 2nds took
hesitation in our
defensive box- which
saw the Island score
we pretty much
dominated possession
and territory but were
unable to put the
chances away, Jesse
getting us the equaliser.
