2010 GCS Racing Team Award Winners<br />

Newbie Award- Rookie of the Year<br />

The Newbie Award goes to a new, or fairly new,<br />

male & female Strider who have had a significant<br />

impact on the Team this year<br />

Nicole Rogers<br />

Nicole had a great first year with GCS. She ran 3<br />

NEGP races & 1 NHGP race. She scored 29<br />

NEGP points. She ran a 1:45 at Applefest Half<br />

Marathon, a 1:11 at Moose on the Loose 10m (2nd<br />

in her age group), a 45:28 at Bridge of Flowers<br />

10k, a 20:34 at Cigna 5k, a19:29 at Apple Country<br />

Hollis 5K (2nd in her age group), a52:24 at<br />

Bedford 12k, and a 25:38 at Medical Center 6k<br />

(1st in her age group).<br />

Justin Soucy<br />

In Justin’s first full year with the club he ran 2<br />

NEGP races & 2 NHGP races. He scored 28<br />

NEGP points & 11 NHGP points (2nd most<br />

amongst GCS Youth). He was a key member of<br />

Pineland Farms 25k Team Champions. He ran 3:04<br />

at Baystate Marathon (his 1st marathon), a 30:41<br />

at Bill Luti 5m, a 44:17 at Bedford 12k, a 37:18 at<br />

Soup Kitchen 10k (2nd in his age group), a1:23 at<br />

New Bedford Half Marathon, a 17:57 Lowell 1st<br />

Run 5k (1st in his age group), a17:07 at T-Shirt 5k<br />

(1st in his age group). On top of all that he’s an<br />

Assistant Coach of GCS Youth program and<br />

recruited two super-fast Mens Open runners for<br />

the Team.<br />

Bounce Back Award -Comeback of the Year<br />

The Bounce Back Award goes to the male &<br />

female Strider who have had to overcome<br />

significant adversity in order to contribute to the<br />

Team this year.<br />

Tammy Gaffey<br />

In the fall of 2009, Tammy developed a stress<br />

fracture in her leg. After her stress fracture she<br />

worked hard to come back and tried to attend as<br />

many club races as she could. She ran 4 NEGP<br />
