Continued from page 11 Chris Poulos Leaps and Bounds Award Most Improved Runner The Leaps and Bounds Award goes to the male & female Strider who have improved immensely over the year and really stepped up their contribution to the Team. Lisa Klasman Lisa had a tremendous year in 2010. She ran NEGP races & 2 NHGP races. She scored 20 NEGP points. She captained a team at the Vermont 100on100 relay and co-captained a team at the 200 mile Cape Relay. She improved her 1/2 marathon time by 11 minutes - from 1:50 at the Great Bay Half Marathon in the spring to a 1:39 at the Manchester Half Marathon in the fall finishing 2 nd in her age group. She took 3 minutes off her 5m time and 2 minutes off her 5k time. She capped off the year by breaking the Novemberfest course record by 2 minutes 36 seconds to win in a time of 35:02. He scored 31 NHGP points which was tops for Gate City in the Men’s Open division. He was also the Captain of his Mill Cities Relay Team. He ran a 4:29 at the Millennium Mile (2 nd in his age group), a 23:46 at Medical Center 6k (1 st in age group), a 1:20 at Pack, a 16:12 at Hollis Fast 5k (1 st in his age group and 1st GCS). He also won two races this year including the Beaver Brook Trail Race and competed in two non-traditional races: The 1:13 Worcester Duathlon where he finished 1 st in his age group (3rd overall) and the Mighty Merrimack swim where he finished 2nd in his age group. Continued from page 12 Jennifer Vincent Jennifer was everywhere this year. You name the GCS event and she was there. She ran 6 NEGP races (1 short of “Iron Runner”) & 4 NHGP races. She scored 30 NEGP points (3 rd on the Women’s Open Team). She ran a 1:43 at the Jones 10m, a 2:51 at Applefest, a 1:16 at Bridge of Flowers, a 2:10 at Pack, a 1:18 Bedford 12k, a 27:29 at Foothealth, a 46:08 at Reds 5m, a 2:14 at the New Bedford Half. If that wasn’t enough, Jen also handles the race results on club website and was one of clubs most active volunteers last year. Photo by Mike Poublon Tom Kolb 2008 was a tough year for Tom Kolb. He suffered through a serious illness which put him on the sidelines for most of the year. In 2009 Tom worked his way back and in 2010 Tom was without a doubt the face of GCS. He ran an astonishing 33 races in 2010. He ran indoor track races, outdoor track races, road races, trail races, and cross country races. He ran 2 NEGP races & 7 NHGP races earning “Granite Runner” status. He ran a 1:12 at Jones 10m, a 43:06 at Soup Kitchen 10k, a 34:04 at Reds, a 20:49 at Foothealth, a 50:47 at Bedford 12k, a 1:28 at Pack, a 36:22 at Bill Luti, a 1:42 at Mt. Washington, a 20:44 at Cigna, a 1:33 at Whit Mountains Half a 34:06 at the New England 8k Cross Country Championships. He ran 3 legs at Reach the Beach for the First Place GCS Mens Seniors Team and he also scored 21 NHGP points which was 1 st amongst Gate City Senior Men.
