Das in Fesers jüngsten Arbeiten eingesetzte Gemüse
sorgt für Irritationen. Im Auseinanderreißen und Zerteilen
von Fenchelknollen scheinen deren skulpturale
Qualitäten auf, und zugleich stehen sie in einem diffusen
Sinne auch für »Natur«. Diese Naturmaterialien
dienen zum einen als Körperpanzer und zerren zum
anderen durch ihr enormes Gewicht an dem Leib, den
sie zu schützen vorgeben.
The vegetable used in Feser’s latest works causes
confusion. In the course of dismembering and dividing
fennel roots, their sculptural qualities appear; at the
same time, they also stand – in a diffuse sense – for
»nature«. These natural materials act as a body shield
on the one hand and yet, on the other, pull at the body
they purport to protect with their enormous weight.
Dennis Feser, *1978 in Bingen, Germany. 1999-2001
Studied Theater and Acting. 2001-2003 studied Visual
Arts at the Akademie für Bildende Künste, Mainz.
2003-2006 studied Fine Arts at the HBK Braunschweig,
majoring in experimental film, video art, and performance.
Diploma in 2006. 2006-2007 MFA (Meisterschüler),
HBK, Braunschweig; studied with Prof. Birgit
Hein. Junge Kunst scholarship from the Old Hanseatic
Town of Lemgo 2008. Scholarship awarded by the
Stiftung Kunstfonds in 2008.

In Imaginary Girlfriend bedient sich die Künstlerin Erica
Eyres der Ästhetik und Künstlichkeit von Fernsehbilligproduktionen;
sieht sich selbst für jede Rolle in
diesem Video vor und hinterfragt die ausbeuterische
Beziehung zwischen Eltern und Kind und die Verletzlichkeit
des Aufwachsens in einer medienbeherrschten
Welt.
In Imaginary Girlfriend, artist Erica Eyres borrows from
the aesthetic and artificiality of low budget television;
casting herself in each of the characters roles this
video investigates the exploitative relationship between
parent and child and the vulnerability of growing
up in a media saturated world.
Erica Eyres is interested in the human condition,
through her drawings and videos she examines human
nature. As a Canadian artist living in Glasgow; she
graduated from the MFA at Glasgow School of Art in
2004, having studied at the University of Manitoba and
Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. In 2005
she was selected for newcontemporaries. Current exhibitions
include a solo show at Kunsthaus Erfurt and No
Borders (just News) at The Elektriciteitscentrale, European
Centre for Contemporary Art, Brussels. Her work
is in numerous private collections, including The Rubell
Family Collection.
