The Big #3
Anchored
State Wrestling Tournament held at the Metra in Billings this
Chance, Luke, Myles and Aaron
by four individual state champions, the Glasgow
Scotties successfully defended the Class B-C State Title,
winning their third straight during the Montana All-Class
past Friday and Saturday. Out of the 14 Scotties qualifying
for State, 10 of them placed 4th or better, and everyone
contributed to Glasgow's 236 points by winning at least one
match. Representing Glasgow were: 98 Ibs, Jacob Bethea
3rd; 105, Braden Hallock3rd; 112, LukeZeiger 1st; 119,Simon
Helland; 135, Ryan Bergtoll; 140, Gavin Holstein; 145, Tucker
Holstein; 160, Chaz Hopstad 3rd; 171 - Aaron Hartsock 1st;
189, Myles Kittleson 1st; 215, Chance Rauscher Ist, Parker
Miller 2nd; Heavyweight, Colton Hill 3rd, Tyrel Shumway
4th. This is Glasgow's 11th state title since state wrestling
tournaments began in Montana in 1956, winning the Class
ABC title in 1963, Class A titles in 1964, '66, '73 & '77, and
B-C titles in 1993.2001, .'02..'07,.'08 & '09. While the Scotties
lose three outstanding seniors - Kivleson, Rauscher and
Hill - there's a treasure of talent returning. Going for #12 in
2010? They should definitely be in the hunt.

Panthers pounce on Raiders
for Girls' 3C basketball title
The Saco girls went
to Scobey to win and
that's precisely what they
did, knocking off the host
Spartans 45-36 in semifinal
action on Friday and basically
blowing out Hinsdale for the
championship on Saturday.
The Panthers led 15-4 to end
the first quarter and held a 30-
4th to eventually win 38-28.
It must have took the wind
out of Roving Reporter Jonny
Rawhide's sails as he had no
comment for today's GEG.
But, the Raiders and
Panthers could possibly meet
up again as both hall clubs
does Scobey and Opheim. The
Valley County Chapter #31373
will match funds raised

Senator John Brenden
reporting from Helena
In last week's article, I believe the word "not" was
left out of my explanation of SB237. This bill simply
states Fish Wildlife and Parks will not translocate bison
to any other place in Montana. The bill will be heard
on February 17th in Senate Agriculture at 3:00 PM in
Room 335.
In other legislative news, the Senate dealt with
the horse abandonment bill. Anyone who would let a
horse out would be subject to a fine of $1000. If we had
slaughter houses for horses in this country, we would
not need this. Also, isn't it ridiculous for a stiff fine
of this nature when a DUI first offense is under $600
and one can get fined thousands of dollars for killing an
endangered species and some killers get out after a year
or so and have no fine.
Senator Keane's bill on overweight loads is a
good one. If one is fined for overload, points will not
be placed on your driver's license. Grandpa or a hired
hand has no idea the weight in a truck and should not be
penalized.
It was great to see many of our county
commissioners for their annual meeting in Helena.
These commissioners play a vital role in the day to
day operations in our respective counties. Hats off to
them!
Finally, on Friday the 13th of February, more bad
news came with our revenue forecast. It was down
again by $3 1 million for a total of $25 1 million since
the end of November. Oil and gas income is down big
time, and they still want to tax more. This is just more
insane thinking from Helena. I will not support this
bill.
The agencies here in Helena just keep asking
for more and more when we have less and less. To
everything, there is a season and now is not the season
to be wrecklessly spending.
Apple B Spice Pork Roast
Okay, so this pork dish takes more than an hour but
the taste will be worth the wait.
3 to 4 pound boneless pork cloves
roast
1 tablespoon flour
1 cup applesauce 112 teaspoon salt
113 cup packed brown 114 teaspoon sugar
sugar
118 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons vinegar 118 teaspoon ground black
1 teaspoon yellow mustard pepper
118 to 114 teaspoon ground
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Stir together applesauce,
brown sugar, vinegar, mustard and cloves in small bowl;
refrigerate half of the applesauce mixture and set aside
remaining applesauce mixture. Combine flour, salt, sugar,
garlic powder and pepper in another small bowl.
Rub flour mixture evenly over entire surface of
pork. Place pork on rack in shallow roasting pan. Roast,
uncovered, until internal temperature is 140 degrees F.
Spoon reserved applesauce mixture over roast. Roast until
internal temperature is 155 degrees F., 1 to 1 112 hours
total cooking time (about 18-20 minutes per pound).
Transfer roast to serving platter; cover with foil
and let stand for 15 minutes before slicing. Heat chilled
applesauce mixture in small saucepan until boiling; boil
for 1 minute. Spoon heated applesauce mixture over pork
slices.
The woman applying for a job in a Florida lemon
grove seemed way too qualified for the job.
"Look Miss," said the foreman, "have you any
actual experience in picking lemons?"
"Well, as a matter if fact, I do!" she replied. "I've
been divorced four times."
