The first unit of 3X350 MW Coal based Kamalanga
Thermal Power Plant near Dhenkanal, Odisha, was
successfully synchronized with the Central grid
on 27th January 2013. This is the Group’s second
Coal-based power plant to be synchronized.
Commissioning work in the second and third units
is in progress. The project has been implemented
on multiple package concepts and is the first IPP
in Odisha under MoU, to have been synchronized
with the Central Grid. The project will cater to the
Power needs of various States of India including
Odisha.

The first 300 MW unit of GMR EMCO Energy Limited
commenced commercial generation of Power. The
Group is establishing a 2X300 MW Coal-based
Power project at Warora in Chandrapur District,
near Nagpur. This is the Group’s first Coal-based
Power plant to commence commercial generation.
The 300 MW unit was synchronized with the grid
on 10th December, 2012. Power generated from
the plant is being evacuated to Bhadravati substation
of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.
Work on commissioning the second unit is in
advanced stages.
