AAdministrative Support<br />

Administrative support includes the Business Office and<br />

related activities including internal technology and<br />

computer support, policy development and<br />

implementation, personnel matters, risk management,<br />

plant maintenance and operation, van delivery, copy and<br />

media production services and administrative support to<br />

local schools.<br />

Adult Dependent/Child Abuse Mandatory<br />

Reporter Training<br />

This two-hour online program provides training related<br />

to the identification and reporting of child abuse as<br />

specified by Iowa Code 232.69(3).<br />

Alternate Assessment (State 1% System)<br />

GH<strong>AEA</strong> supports the Iowa Alternate Assessment (IAA)<br />

System, which utilizes a body of evidence/rating scale<br />

approach to measure student performance on the<br />

Content Standards and Benchmarks. The Iowa Alternate<br />

Assessment is for students with the most significant<br />

cognitive disabilities whose academic performance is<br />

appropriately judged against alternate achievement<br />

standards. The Iowa Alternate Assessment measures<br />

student performance in reading, mathematics and<br />

science. It is used in lieu of the Iowa Tests for a small<br />

number of students with IAA indicated as a need in their<br />

Individual Education Program.<br />

Annual Progress Report (APR)<br />

GH<strong>AEA</strong> provides support, samples and best practice for<br />

effective APRs to local districts. GH<strong>AEA</strong>’s APR reports<br />

progress toward agency-wide goals, customer satisfaction<br />

and student achievement.<br />

Assessment<br />

Consultation and training are available for developing or<br />

improving district-wide, alternate and classroom<br />

assessment practices.<br />

Assessment Solutions<br />

A consortium of districts collaboratively purchases/<br />

leases assessment templates and data services. Templates<br />

and tools assist in the analysis and use of data from<br />

assessments including the Iowa Tests, DIBELS and the<br />

Basic Reading Inventory (BRI). Training and consultation<br />

in use of the tools are provided.<br />

Assistive Technology<br />

Assistive technology consultants work with the Early<br />

ACCESS or local school staff to provide assessment,<br />

equipment, and program recommendations for students,<br />

birth to 21. Supportive technology is matched to make<br />

life needs more comfortable, convenient and<br />

independent for infants and/or students with disabilities.<br />

Consultative services and professional development<br />

activities are provided to parents and local school<br />

districts.<br />
