Jetbroom concept<br />

In opposition to a serial chassis the Jetbroom is based on a specially<br />

designed chassis by <strong>Boschung</strong>, which is perfectly adapted<br />

to the needs of a high-performance winter maintenance vehicle.<br />

Through his unique concept – basic vehicle with numerous<br />

equipment possibilities for winter- and summer maintenance –<br />

the Jetbroom provides security and cleanness on airports<br />

worldwide.<br />

Jetbroom „Winter“<br />

The Jetbroom can be fi tted with spreader, plow and broom for<br />

2 different working-widths and is equipped with a specially<br />

developed air blowing system by <strong>Boschung</strong>. Based on a 2 blowers<br />

concept, one airfl ow in front of the broom and the second one<br />

either between broom and rear axle or at the rear of the vehicle.<br />

In combination with the automatic ground pressure regulation -<br />

without castor wheels - we obtain a highly effi cient system with<br />

an outstanding cleaning-performance also at high speeds.<br />

This fl exibility allows a snow-clearing and de-icing with one<br />

vehicle in one single run, a unique concept on the market.<br />

Jetbroom „Summer“<br />

The state of cleaning on airport surfaces (Runway, Apron,<br />

Taxiway) are essential for secure fl ight-operations. Foreign<br />

objects can cause heavy damages on airplanes, either due<br />

to air turbulences, intake by turbines or simply damaging<br />

landing-gear or wheels through over-rolling.<br />

A sweeper-kit consists of 9 m 3 refuse-hopper and 2 independent<br />

suction mouths, which are mounted in front of<br />

the broom. The sweeper can be extended in it’s functionality<br />

using a rear suction unit for the absorption of various<br />

liquids such as water, oils, glycol a.o. The sweeper is based<br />

on the small broom version and achieves a clearing width<br />

of approx. 4.2 m.<br />

Thanks to the unique concept a switch from a snow-clearing<br />

vehicle to a sweeper is done easily and in no time.

Additionally the sweeper offers, quasi integrated, the functionality<br />

of “Rubber removal” on runways. Using (external)<br />

water the removal is achieved mechanically with the<br />

broom. The water-rubber-mix can be directly absorbed<br />

into the refuse-hopper using the suction mouths located<br />

in front or the back vacuum sweeper system. With the<br />

Jetbroom the rubber removal is done in an easy, economic<br />

and environment-friendly way. Using this method the<br />

brake-coeffi cient can be hold - with small effort - up to<br />

two years over the critical value, before throughout cleaning<br />

becomes necessary.<br />

Jetbroom „towed version“<br />

The towed sweeper/blower unit assembles all the benefi ts<br />

and empirical values of the successful compact version.<br />

Through the use of almost identical parts and construction<br />

elements a united spare-parts and service organisation can<br />

be operated even using a mixed maintenance fl eet.<br />

Following winter-maintenance manoeuvres can be freely<br />

chosen in combination with the <strong>Boschung</strong> MF-Plows:<br />

Multi-purpose vehicle Pony P2 / P4<br />

for Summer and Winter<br />

The versatile multipurpose vehicle “Pony” offers its owner a<br />

large variety of possibilities. The compact design and the powerful<br />

construction allows various operations for a winter and<br />

summer maintenance. Most of the auxiliary equipment was<br />

specially designed for the Pony. With the plug and play system<br />

of the auxiliary equipment the change of the equipment can be<br />

done within minutes.<br />

Pony P2 / P4 Winter maintenance<br />

The Pony can accomplish various snow clearing and deicing<br />

tasks in the winter maintenance. Due to the all-wheel<br />

steering those tasks in the terminals, ramps and driveways<br />

can be easily and effi ciently achieved. With a plow or front<br />

broom and a liquid de-icer the Pony can be deployed for<br />

centerline clearing while snowfall to assure the rolling of<br />

the airplanes at all times.<br />

Pony P2 / P4 Summer maintenance<br />

The „Pony“ is perfectly suited to perform numerous<br />

task in airfi eld areas (land- and airside). Surface cleaning<br />

sweeper/suction or with a washing unit, mower for<br />

green space or a compactor for the waste-management.<br />

Last but not least the Pony is also a transporter for all<br />

kinds of goods. Its high manoeuvrability allows operations<br />

in terminal an ramp areas.<br />

The strength of the Liquid De-icer K1 (1 disc) and L2<br />

(2 disc) are its various mounting possibilities. They’re easily<br />

adaptable – using a console – at any liquid tank, preferably<br />

in connection with liquid tank mounted on the tractor.<br />

Airport liquid De-icer with spinner disc system<br />

Its strenght are big surfaces ! The airport FullWet ® L<br />

De-icer has a solid base frame for accommodation of the<br />

cascade shaped PE-hoppers. Spreading is done through<br />

high-speed liquid spinner discs, optionally mounted on<br />

fold-out booms.<br />

The FullWet ® S is mounted on a strong chassis for admission<br />

of PE-liquid tank in cascade shape. The chassis is<br />

prepared for the various mounting options. The spreading<br />

of the liquid is done by state-of-the-art nozzle system, optionally<br />

mounted on fold-out booms. High working speed<br />

whit precise liquid distribution are granted. 18 m spreading<br />

width can be achieved with fold-out boom at vehicle width,<br />

perfectly convenient for taxiways.<br />

The Multi De-icer IMS C has been specially designed for the<br />

spreading of abrasive agents, chemical anti-icing agents or<br />

their mixture in any selectable proportion. The conveyance is<br />

done depending the specifi cation of the solid agents, optionally<br />

by conveyor belt or auger system. The special spinner<br />

disc allows a large spreading width with very precise lateral<br />

distribution.<br />

width with very precise lateral distribution.<br />

Airport Multi De-icer with spinner disc system for solid<br />

and liquid thawing agents<br />

The <strong>SDA</strong> <strong>M3</strong> De-icer suits perfectly for interventions on airport<br />

surfaces, specially for spreading of abrasive agents, chemical antiicing<br />

agents solid/liquid or their mixtures in any selectable proportion.<br />

The auger system of the hopper and of the fold-out booms<br />

assure a spreading accurate to within a gram. Available with one,<br />

two (tandem) or three thawing agent distributors on the<br />

booms. The booms can be folded up to the vehicle<br />

width, approx. 2.55 m.<br />

MF-Plows<br />

Plows for airports<br />

The special airport plows are adapted to the Jetbroom-family<br />

operating with sweeper/blower unit of 4.2 m and 6.0 m wide<br />

brooms and are harmonized for a ideal clearing concept with<br />

overlapping on the inside to give enough space for 2-blowersystem.<br />

A type selection within the 84-series can be suited<br />

ideally to customers requirements. Thanks to the quick-coupler<br />

the driver can pick up and set down the plow from the<br />

cabin, which allows an easy parking outside a garage. Additionally<br />

the two outer segments of the MF 2S / 84 plow can be<br />

fl ipped by 90° to gain space.<br />

B4<br />

Snow blower/cutter<br />

The B4 is <strong>Boschung</strong>’s compact and effi cient snow blower/<br />

cutter. Its design and handling guarantees an effective<br />

winter maintenance. Its small dimensions and high maneuverability<br />

make snow clearing on narrow surfaces an easy<br />

task. Optimal operation airside (ramp, terminal, passenger<br />

bridges) and landside (parking lots, driveways).<br />

With its liftable cabin, the B4 is perfect for snow loading<br />

onto trucks.<br />

Snow blower/cutter<br />

The Snowbooster is a state-of-the-art and powerful snow<br />

blower/cutter. Constant development of the vehicle brought<br />

him to a level where nothing is left to be desired regarding<br />

performance, security and comfort. With his clearing capacity<br />

up to 2,500 t/h the Snowwbooster is the perfect solution for<br />

works on airfi eld areas for snow clearance and snow loading.<br />

He can be fi tted with different aggregates and therefore can be<br />

suited ideally to customers requirements.<br />

Sweeper S3<br />

The S3 has the largest dirt hopper in its class. Even with the<br />

2.5 m3 dirt hopper and the 500 liter fresh water reservoir,<br />

the S3 is small and compact and can be operated within the<br />

smallest areas. The S3 is equipped state of the art.<br />

Based on the Euro 4 emission norm the S3 is an ecofriendly<br />

machine on airports, both for air- and landside.<br />

Washer L3<br />

The L3 is a compact washing vehicle for all airport surfaces<br />

(air- and landside). The high manoeuvrability by the all<br />

wheel steering and the short wheel base allows a usage of<br />

the vehicle also in narrow areas. Even though of the compact<br />

design, the L3 has a large operating time through its<br />

large water tank. An ergonomic cabin with excellent view<br />

and operator friendly instruments is part of the general<br />

optimum working condition.<br />

Automated Vehicle Location (AVL)<br />

The Vpad Generic is a black box approach to collection<br />

of vehicle location and operation activity. Once collected<br />

this data is transmitted, via cellular communication, to a<br />

database for the real-time data collection, BORRMA-web<br />

internet display, reporting and storage. The touch screen<br />

allows manual settings like driver identifi cation or capture<br />

of specifi c events.<br />

The module Mission Support can be integrated in the Vpad<br />

as well. With the GIS-editor tool the user creates individual<br />

routes in the system. With this module the operator will<br />

be guided visually and verbally on the correct route.


AWIS<br />

Airport Weather Information System<br />

The AWIS is a central management tool for the maintenance<br />

of airport traffi c surfaces with high focus on winter operations.<br />

Because anticipation is of the essence, it relies primarily on a<br />

network of active pavement sensors delivering highly accurate<br />

information about surface condition and freezing point<br />

temperature for any kind of chemical solution. Numerical<br />

weather forecast can be integrated to further enhance the<br />

maintenance crew’s level of readiness.<br />

Because effi ciency and overall control are determining<br />

factors to cost saving and security, the AWIS system also<br />

displays the maintenance vehicles in real time with feed back<br />

of on-going treatments (plow, airport de-icer, etc.). Further<br />

data processing allows to issue detailed reports of all operations<br />

for quality management, post-analysis or accounting<br />

purposes.<br />

GFS<br />

Innovative ice early-warning system<br />

<strong>Boschung</strong>’s latest generation of Airport Weather Information<br />

System (AWIS) represents the most comprehensive<br />

range of products for ice prevention and runway maintenance<br />

in winter. The unique patented active measurement<br />

principles as well as technologies used in the sensors, the<br />

associated electronics and software lead to the complete<br />

coverage of today’s black-ice early detection techniques<br />

Only <strong>Boschung</strong>’s active pavement sensors are able to<br />

detect the exact freezing point temperature by measuring<br />

regardless of the type of chemicals used at airports. This<br />

gives the decision maker together with other meteorological<br />

data the possibility to plan winter service on airports<br />

economically and ecologically with at most security.


TMS<br />

FAST / Micro-FAST<br />

Fixed Automated Spray Technology (FAST) systems are spraying<br />

de-icing materials on traffi c areas before icy conditions<br />

can start to form. FAST systems are controlled automatically<br />

by ice early warning systems (GFS 3000) with active<br />

pavement sensors. The spray system can be monitored and<br />

controlled with the Management System BORRMA-web.<br />

Patented spray disks or spray heads or the innovative Micro-<br />

FAST system are used. FAST works independently of the<br />

used de-icing material.<br />

FAST systems are increasing traffi c safety and are working<br />

ecologically and economically. Only 2 g/m 2 equivalent deicing<br />

material per spraying is used.<br />

FAST systems are designed individually to the needs. Quality<br />

and reliability of <strong>Boschung</strong>’s FAST is the result of over 30<br />

years of worldwide experience.<br />
