Dirt Contest / Entry
In recent years, only few MTB disciplines have seen a
more extended boom than playful dirt-bike riding which
might appear almost ludicrous to outsiders. Increasingly
daring stunts during more and more spectacular runs
capture athletes just as much as visitors with ever growing
fascination. Of course, the material requirements
have grown as well. With the MERIDA VELO TEAM
around the exceptionally talented Pavel Alekhin, we are
involved intensively in the dirt-bike scene and put again
exciting bikes on the market for Season 2014.
With the radical reduction to a sensational weight of 1.9
kg, the HARDY PRO frame has already been upgraded
comprehensively in the previous year. Nevertheless,
our R&D experts aimed at further refinement: The now
integrated chain tensioner provides more space for the
chain; thus it was possible to position both chain stays in
a linear way. Advantage: No more chain jumping despite
the small 9-teeth pinion – and a definitely hotter look!
Another HARDY PRO innovation is the headtube gusset
which enables even more individual bike tuning via the
possible installation of a larger number of different forks.
Our experienced R&D department also had a look at the
chain stays which are 5 mm shorter now to increase
the HARDY PRO’s playfulness once again. Also the beginner
models HARDY 4, 5 and 6 have been updated
perceptibly and visibly: Thanks to the successful utilization
of several tubes from the HARDY PRO, these three
bikes put 300 g less on the scales now while appearing
clearly more sophisticated and even more stylish. Life is
your playground – MERIDA HARDY.
