Dear Parishioners,
In two weeks time, we will have Jean Prendegast speaking to us about the Chaplaincy program in our local schools. These wonderful men and
women give up well paid jobs to go into our schools to work with young people who, we know, are struggling with all kinds of difficulties today. These
committed people are doing this work simply because they see a need which must be met and they rely completely on communities such as
ours to provide them with a basic income to enable them to continue the work. I ask you to listen carefully to Jean when she comes and to give as
generously as you can to this very worthwhile cause.
I thank those who have come forward in answer to our appeal for help in a few of our ministries and groups. More help is still needed, especially
with raking the lawns. - Fr. Sunny
Very Urgently Needed— Lawn rakers - Are you an early morning person? Like being outdoors? Due to illness, our leaf raking
team now consists of just one man! We urgently need some more people to volunteer an hour or two a week to help him out raking up the neverending
supply of leaves on the lawns and around the church on the paving. It may seem a mundane task, but it is a very necessary one. Please call
Angela at the office 92768500 if you are able to assist.
Our annual appeal helps to raise the funds which
make all the difference to the survival of the
‘COME – WHY STAND ALONE’
Thursday 3 rd May from 7.30pm – 8.30pm.
‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They
are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you hope
and a future.’ (Jeremiah 29:11)
We can at mes feel alone and discouraged that our
prayers are not being answered. However, we are
reminded in the WORD, to pray unceasingly, confident that He does
hear our prayers.
Is it not comforng to know that God has plans for us? And especially to
know that He has not just plans, but good plans for us and that He
intends to give us and our families futures filled with hope? Somemes
in our daily lives, we get trapped into thinking that this moment in me
is all there is. Prayer helps us to see that we can get through hard things
and that joy can come out of sadness.
COME and join together in an hour of prayer, worship and song in our
church. We hope this hour will bring you to a place of trust in God’s
personal plan and provision for you; and to a place of hope, that he is
hearing your prayers for your family, your church and for our world.
Church Cleaning - more help needed
We are blessed in our parish to have so many willing volunteers, who offer their help in
so many ways. Of all the many groups and ministries, the volunteers in our church
cleaning teams are some of the most faithful, having quietly continued their work for
many, many years. This means that some of our teams are now getting on in years and
finding the heavier work, such as vacuuming, a bit too hard.
New volunteers are needed to share the load so that our church can continue to be, as it
always has been, kept beautifully clean.
If you can offer any time at all to this task, we would love to hear from you. Even if you
cannot vacuum, you could still help with the dusting and light cleaning jobs; willing hands
are always welcome. Please call Angela at the office on 9276 8500.
